Paired with a cellular amplifier, this allowed making and receiving calls in rural areas not possible with just the phone. This was about 10 years ago before the cellular infrastructure was not extended into rural areas. I stopped using the setup a couple of years ago when I no longer traveled from town to town and now there are sufficient towers to fill in the gaps from 10 years ago almost everywhere.

I would have given this antenna a 5 with no problem , it's not the antenna's fault , I happen to live in a very low 3G area , I thought I could get 4G but this antenna did gain my signal to a much higher 3G ! The standard antenna I have is vehicle rooftop stubby 4 inch . I called Wilson tech , I need a directional antenna aimed at a cell phone tower . For right now , this antenna is going to have to do , just can't afford the directional antenna right now .

this does a GREAT JOB pulling in the signal. the Wilson electronics 4g data/phone signal booster has a small antenna, which for areas where you are close to a tower, but in a dead spot, or in a no/low service zone with line of sight to the tower (i.e. on flat land such as kansas or eastern colorado) it does a good job pulling signal, but when you are in a SERIOUS dead zone (i.e. the mountains, or BELOW ground) this antenna does a GREAT job pulling in the signal. i have it in a window in my basement, and use it in conjunction with my wilson electronics 4g data/signal booster and it works BEAUTIFULLY. it takes me from NO SERVICE or 2 bars of Edge (i.e. roaming). to 3 - 4 bars of 4g phone AND data. i couldn't possibly ask for more considering it is being used in a basement that was built BELOW ground and intended to be used as a fallout shelter back in the 70's. a great antenna and has a VERY strong magnet that won't come loose even at 80-85 mph on the highway.

Great antenna for home or auto if you set it up right.

This is a ground plane antenna. For those without enough of a radio background to understand what that means, it means that for the antenna to radiate properly it must be mounted over a flat metal object. This is not normally a problem for mag mount antennas as you normally have it stuck in the middle of the roof of your car or truck. But if you try to use this antenna at home, without sitting it on a metal object, its not going to work for you and may actually be worse than a smaller stock antenna.

For optimum use at home or in an RV you HAVE to have it sitting on metal object that is at least 14x14inches in size. Doesn't matter what type of metal, just needs to be a flat plane. Could be a cookie sheet, a square piece of metal flashing, the top of a filing cabinet, the top of a refrigerator, etc. The gains of the antenna are calculated against the idea of it sitting on plane of infinite length and width, which none of use really have. :) The smaller the metal object its sitting on the less performance you will get from the antenna. So if using at home, try to find the largest metal object you can find to put it on to maximize your signal gains.

"ground plane" doesn't mean the metal object needs to be grounded. But to get the best performance in all directions you want to have the antenna mounted as close to the center (as possible) of the metal object it is mounted over.

It's only been about two months now so maybe they just haven't had time to get around to it yet?
The cradle doesn't fit my iPhone 6 Plus, not that it said it would but it didn't say it wouldn't really ever Tisem it so just isn't doing me any good.

Bought newest 2013 Wilson #813426 AWS signal booster. T-mobile. Bought home office kit as well, great investment. Noticed this antenna was first made pre- 4g, read specs seemed exact with mini antenna other than this has a steel coil, where the mini has copper in coil. I took the chance & bought this. Yes, it works very well., not well with the home /office metal suction cup window bracket, with that second metal rod. This antenna needs a 3" diameter minimum metal surface for the magnet. I used a metal bowl upside down, placed outside on patio rail, went up to 4 bars. I was ready to return this antenna until I realized it needed a large metal surface to magnetize to. Recommend the wilson 6' extension coax rg174. female to male. I bought 3 of those from Amazon. My best signal is in the southern side, now with this antenna & extension, I'm 4 bars in my northern side, without antenna & booster 0 bars, Use hotspot, data flows super fast with this antenna.

Out of the box the antenna and cable is strong and well made. The base is big enough if attached to a steel surface such as a car, but I wouldn’t trust it if mobile if the steel had a coating thicker than paint. My intended use is to boost the signal of a 1900 MHz MiFi device. If the antenna is plugged in next to the device I don’t see much of a difference in signal strength or SNR. The antenna is useful if signal strength decreases inside a building or vehicle. It’s also helpful if you need increase the height of the antenna and continue to physically access the device. Mounted outside a solid masonry building I measure an increase of 10-15 dBm. In a vehicle the change is 5-7 dBm, but at times I measured no change. At -110 dBm it’s the difference between a unusable and reasonably reliable device. I wish the cable was longer.

I purchased this antenna to put on the roof of a Dodge Sprinter van, which is VERY tall, so I didnt want anything to much taller up there on the roof.

I am using a Uniden 436HP digital all band scanner. Most of my intended reception will be on trunked and P25 700/800 MHz systems. Performance on my local Motorola type 2 system was good out to approx 55 miles. My P25 system came in on my home transmitter site for about 50 miles. It picked up at least two or more sites for the entire trip.

Surprisingly, the reception on VHF and UHF bands was also excellent. I picked up a fire dispatch call from home when I was over 60 miles away on VHF.

Anyone considering this antenna for a low profile scanner antenna will be pleased. If your scanner has a BNC antenna connector, you will need an adapter. My scanner has the SMA connector on it, so this antenna screwed right in.
