Well, how or where to start. Maybe pointing out that The Flash 90s TV series could and should be considered as the beginning of what you can call as a well rounded and very grounded adaptation for a comic book hero.
So, if you consider yourself a fan of more contemporary adaptations, such as TV's Smallville, or the bigscreen The Dark Knight then you'll love this show.
This was the first try at something of this caliber. It has some degrees of deep and personality. True, the show only lasted one season. But what a ride. Maybe its complexity, which was ahead of its time, was the reason of its early demise.

A previous reviewer wrongly points this as a dissapointment for not being a light hearted show. This is not a kids show. It was never intended to be. You can even see Barry Allen, the main character, using his powers to his advantage with his girlfriend, if you know what I mean. Nothing explicit, of course, but you clearly knew what was going on. Funny.

I think that if you're looking for something of a kiddy, campy kind of show, then you should go for shows like the 60s Batmannot available on DVDs), or, say, even the Power Rangers.

If you like the genre of Super Heroes; you'll love the Flash. John Wesley Shipp provides the lead character with a humanity, unlike his cartoon version. This Flash is thoughtful, intelligent and has a sensitivity that other comic adaptations get wrong out of the gate. The shows cleverly adapt the comics in a way a modern audience will enjoy. The reason why it was canceled? CBS didn't have much respect for the genre and kept switching it on different days. It never found an audience because it never came on the same day each week. Football and other events kept delaying the broadcasts. I believe it was done to get rid of the show. Now you can enjoy them all. I only wish it was allowed to survive. It was a gem that will never be duplicated again. If you like the Batman, Superman TV shows with a modern twist, this is a show you'll like. You won't be disappointed!

In the early 90's CBS tried this series out and it didn't work. The writing just wasn't there. The costume looked good and looks better than the "new" Flash's costume which isn't even red like the comics! Here on "Amazon Instant" you can buy individual episodes for your devices. I recommend the 2 with Mark Hammill of "Star Wars" as "The Trickster." There's also a couple of others here that include 2 other famous comic villains "Captain Cold" and " Mirror Man." Hamill's turn here changed his life, he was that manic and good, because he was hired soon after to voice "The Joker" in the 90's "Batman" series from Buce Timm.

The Flash was always a good show. I never got a chance to see all the episodes. It was a much darker show than the new Flash series that is out on the CW. Many different issues were explored in this Flash series. I will continue to watch The Flash Season 1 (Classic Series). I'm glad it is being offered on Amazon. I enjoy it very much.

This series came out right after Tim Burton's masterpiece Batman and it has much of the same dark comic atmosphere and maniacal villains. Much of the cast of this series have reoccurring roles in the new Flash series giving it a parallel dimension feel which is clearly intentional on the part of the new series creators. John Wesley Shipp plays Barry Allen in the90's series and Returns as Barry's father in the new series. Both face Mark Hammil in his delightful play on the Joker "The Trickster". Any overt imitations of Batman are forgivable because they are done so well. Central City is s dark place where gangs run the city and the Flash makes a heroic difference. Amanda Pays also with parallel roles in both series is the Dr. McGee running Star Labs and her cool ability to use early 90's computers to do just about everything is a joyful retro pleasure to watch. The pilot and the trickster episode are must sees for fans of the new series. But I hope you will want to see them all like I did.

I've only watched thre episodes. The scripts are good but not tight and clear as the modern Flash is played. The only reason I can't give it five stars is because the video is so dark and it's sometimes difficult to see what is going on. Overall I enjoy the retro feel of the scripts. If you are a fan of the new series I think you'd really enjoy watching the character playing the Flash and comparing him to the modern Flash's father.

The show was great back in the day and I still enjoyed it now. Definitely ahead of its time. If this show was made with today's technology and storytelling, it would've been amazing. Also Mark Hamil was great in it too.

The new Generation must see at least the Pilot from this Flash; for those that doesn't know the actor that plays this Flash is Now the Father of the New Flash; also notice the difference between late 80s and early 90's heroes; they where Men not Teenagers and also this Flash looks Strong compare to the new one who looks Slim.
