Functional, inexpensive

I'd rate this drafting table a 3.5, but I'll round up before rounding down.

This drafting table is actually being used as a mobile standing workstation for a laptop, drawing tablet and extra display. With the desk top angled level, it works very well for this purpose.

Construction, build and materials are what should be expected of a drafting table of this price. Particle board top, particle board shelf, stamped steel tubing with a durable matte finish for the base, chrome finish for the adjustable extenders. Lockable polymer roller feet or optional fixed feet. Edges on the desktop are covered with a thin polymer tape/coating producing somewhat sharp edges that some may want to sand down with 150 grit sandpaper to smooth out. The particle board used for the desk top is dense and flex free under normal pressure. Can't comment on the durability of the faux wood grain finish over time, but it does feel slick to the touch and is hard enough for writing with a ballpoint pen without leaving indentations like unfinished wood.

The convenience shelf was likely only designed for light materials as the reference books I am currently storing caused the shelf to flex and bow after less than a month. This is fairly normal for particle board shelves of any kind; you get what you pay for. A piece of laminate plywood could have fixed this, but it is likely a cost issue.

In short, this is a very functional drafting table that wouldn't look out of place in a school art classroom although the durability over years with heavy use could be questionable. As a standing computer workstation that can be rolled around, it has performed exactly as intended.

Makes a good exercise desk with a recumbent exercise bike

I bought this table to use with a recumbent exercise bike. Studies have shown that a sedentary life sitting at a desk is associated with short life spans, even when you get plenty of exercise when you're not working. Some people use treadmill desks to stay active during the work day, but I tried a friend's and didn't like it. The constant up-and-down motion of walking made it hard for me to read text on a computer screen. A recumbent exercise bike makes your head move a lot less, and keeps your body active while you work. This table is working out great with the Exerpeutic 400XL Folding Recumbent Bike. You have to leave out the shelf in order for everything to fit. The table is a little less rigid without it, but that's not a big deal for me. The sitting position on the bike is comfortable for me, and the adjustability of the table makes it easy to get my laptop in the right position for comfortable typing. I haven't been using it for long, but so far so good. Go to the customer photos section to see what the two products look like together.

Didn't work for me

I had wanted to use this table as a stand-up computer workstation, but, after assembling it and raising it to the desired height, it was not very stable. It jiggled whenever I moved the mouse - not a lot, but enough that I couldn't easily do any precision tasks, such as photo editing (or playing my favorite games!). The front edge of the top just rests loosely on the front legs; the top is not attached to the front legs at all - this is what makes it possible to adjust the angle of the top, but it may make the table more susceptible to vibrations.

Great standing desk with a short list of fixable flaws

This table is great and makes a perfect standing desk.

I'd give it five stars except for two manufacturing flaws (both of which, handy folks could easily correct):

The first is that one of the connector plates of the rear legs was attached the wrong way. I had to flip it around in order to install it correctly. Inconvenient at best, but required more tools than listed on the instructions (including my keen eye).
Secondly, the pencil tray is a little rough around the edges - literally. If you are not careful you will cut yourself. I think I will be filing that edge down a bit since my wrists will be sliding across it frequently.

Great as a study and laptop table

Although its called drafting table, I purchased it for completely different reason. I intend to use it as my laptop/reading desk. Because, an angle table really is comfortable to work on.
Pros:
1. Very easy to assemble.
2. Sturdy build.
3. Adjustable height and Tilt. Build what you want.
4. High quality top
5. Pencil Ledge (I fitted it Right aligned as opposed to expected centre aligned, so that I can have my laptop on the left-side and have my pen and paper and stuffs on the right)
6. Plenty of space. I chosed this table especially for the 36"by24" top. The 24" top is just the right depth to have your laptop at the back and still have room for papers
7. Have nice wheels. So you can drag it anywhere you like. I use a revolving chair, and I like that you can comfortably sit in relaxed position in the chair, and instead of pulling the chair to table, you can actually pull the chair to you, rest your legs on the small L-shaped desk below, and use your laptop on the inclined top.) Very comfortable
8. Can reach upto stand-up desk height

Cons: (But I haven't found any other table, except the motorized and expensive $800 ranges ones which avoid these)
1. Can't adjust the height or tilt easily. You need to remove your stuffs from table (to reduce the top's weight), call a friend for a hand to lift the top, unscrew the side screws, raise / lower the limbs, screw it back. YOU CAN do it alone, but its not easy.
2. Not as sturdy as those heavy tables. In fact my number one fear was that, since its designed with light with things and wheels it won't be sturdy. Yes, it wobbles a bit when you push it side ways, but believe me its perfectly normal for working on a laptop, reading a book, or writing notes.
