Product Description

Size:24 qt.

All Natural. Made from the bark of fir trees. Hygroscopic. This means it absorbs moisture and then releases it, creating humidity. The perfect substrate for humidity loving reptiles. Conducts and evenly distributes heat. Adds environmental stimulus. Allows natural digging and burrowing activity. Absorbent. Pulls icky waste away from your animal. Decorative. Provides your terrarium with that natural tropical rainforest look. Re-usable and super easy to maintain. All you have to do is soak in hot water every 2 to 3 months for fresh, clean bark. (ReptiBark should be replaced at least once a year). Smaller chips provide better moisture retention (increased surface area). Prevents live food from hanging out in your substrate (small pieces interlock).

We used to buy another product for our young tortoises, but then we tried this and were so happy. Not only is it better for the tortoises because the small chunks are solid rather then full of slivers, but it also smells great! Will use it with a layer of moss so they can borough and it seems we have some very happy tortoises.

MINE HAD MITES!! I recently found these little white bugs eating dead superworms by my Bearded Dragon's cage. I thought mites, I got rid of them and had no idea where they came from. My snake didn't eat his rat last night and today it has mites all over it!! I looked at my bag after doing some research and I saw a few in there!!! I'm really not happy to say the least!!!

By comparison, ZooMed ReptiBark is a safer, more manageable way for a tortoise to get the burrowing they desire with lower maintenance issues for their owners. Retains mild amount of humidity as well. Priced right as well. If appropriate for your tort's breed, I advise to try this as plain substrate or a hill at the corner of their enclosure to dig into, if not down.

I've gotten many recommendations for this product when I got my ball python. It's been great! It doesn't smell funky, even if I don't change it out for a couple of months. I heard people use for for plants too.

I've been using newspaper bedding for my Corn Snake and California King Snake's cages. What a mistake that's been! The ReptiBark bedding is SO much better! They love their new bedding and it makes their colors and patters stick out, in addition to their cages looking so much nicer!

My California King has already burrowed herself into it and used it to help her shed. My Corn Snake is actively burrowing and slithering all over the place.

No splinters, good color, washable and reusable, a nice wood smell, helps with shedding, and doesn't give off dust! What more could you want in bedding?!

The 24Quart bag is supposed to be good for a 55gallon tank, but I used the whole bag on my Corn Snake's 40gallon cage so he'd have 2-3inches of burrowing space.

I use Repti-bark for my tortoise and reptile substrate. Because I have large habitats I need a lot. This is a larger bag. Most places only ship the smaller bags and I was unhappy when I couldn't get a large bag sent to my home. This is safe for reptile homes and my pets like it!

My greek tortoise loves this bedding. Well, I can't say that for sure, since he doesn't talk. But if he did, he would tell everyone about how he buries himself in this bedding all day and sleeps for hours on end, like the lazy jerk he is.

This is perfect arid tortoise substrate. The wood chips are in nice, smooth little bits that aren't twiggy and splintery. It's easy to pick out his food remnants and weird little turtle poops, leaving his pen fresh and clean.

I also used this bedding for a pet praying mantis. When they're babies, they're the size of a staple, and easy to lose in other wood bedding types. They can't hide so easily in this stuff. When she got big enough to eat crickets, this bedding was easy to clean the cricket remnants out of, again, because the wood bits are so smooth and homogenous.

This bedding isn't very dusty. It would be an excellent bedding for rats, hamsters and mice that are more prone to respiratory infections from especially dusty wood substrates, like pine. It's also pretty absorbent and doesn't have much of a wood odor, so your house won't smell like a hamster cage 24/7. (unless you like that stuff) Plus it's very nice-looking, for wood chips.

Until someone or something convinces me otherwise, this will always be my bedding of choice for my small animals.

I use this bark for most of my tropical type lizards and snakes it is great and holds humidity well and also looks nice! I am a bit of a reptile freak and I keep everything very clean and I am very careful with what I put into my reptiles enclosures. When I buy bedding I will eather bake it in the oven, rinse it a couple times, or just throw the whole bag in the freezer. But that's just me.... Anywats this stuff is great for most reptiles you can use it for desert species aswell just keep it dry.
