I purchased this to add to my C-stand boom arm in order to adapt it for an overhead mount. The piece feels heavy, sturdy and solid. I'll be attaching a quick release Manfrotto head to it once it arrives. I feel confident my expensive camera will be well mounted.

Some may not need the strength, but I'm putting this under my gimbal to mount to my galaxy stabilizer arm. The galaxy arm has a 16mm post which fits this adapter perfectly.

For clarity, the 1/4-20 hole on the Zhiyum Crane 3 Lab gimbal isn't very deep. A tripod's 1/4-20 post holds a lot of weight because the plate has a wide contact with the camera and so the post can't bend to the side. So to make this adapter work, I put 1/4-20 disks and a washer to, create a wider contact surface with the gimbal and protect the adapter's 1/4-20 post from bending - need to be sure there is no bare post showing.

I previously tried the Aluminium Kupos adapter of the same design, and the aluminium post bent to the side. In fairness I didn't have the 1/4-20 disks in place so if I had, perhaps it would have been okay.

At any rate, steel is better for me. This adapter is working well. Putting my heavy gimbal, camera, monitor, follow focus, and batteries, which together are quite heavy, onto the galaxy stabilizer arm is working perfectly. It saves my arms so I can go shoot for hours.

This allowed me to adapt my light stands to a 1/4" thread where I can put several accessories. I mostly use it to attach my color chart when I'm down a man and need to color balance by myself. Small part, great investment.

In video production you always seem to need a specialty piece of equipment. this converter gets the job done - it isn't top of the line, but it is durable and works well in the moderate use range. I could see it breaking down quickly if used every day.

This is a great product and one that goes in my grip kit. It’s great for attaching small led threaded lights to a c-stand boom arm or a light stand (like the Yongnou multi-color LED wand or those little cold-shoe mount lights that are threaded) for a fill or hair light. With new LED lighting making everything smaller (like lumecube lights, etc.) these little guys come in handy and are good to round out a production kit for those times you’re in a jam or the production needs small compact LED light. Not sure how it would hold up supporting a heavier light or camera, etc, always best to use a safety cable on such riggings just in case! Simple piece of equipment that Manfrotto nailed. I would highly recommend!

Working on-location with a client, we planned for a shot that would require me to mount the camera about 10' high for an overhead tabletop shot. Using this adapter and a mini ball mounted to a mini-boom and a beefy baby stand, the shot was easily executed without the need for specialized rentals. This was one of many ways to use this adapter making it a welcome addition to my grip kit.

these are great, but I've bent the 1/4-20 on a few of them. Not very strong, but if you stick to small accessories and teradek receivers, you'll be fine.

Good for the price. Does the job. Can't expect too much. Could get loose if the whole camera is too heavy. It looks cheap nothing too fancy but does get the job done.
