Not only is this movie still the best Christmas movie - perhaps not only despite of being in Black and While, but BECAUSE of being in Black and White. After seeing it again for the first time in many years but also first time with my 8 year old, I feel in love with it all over again. I noticed that - just like how a great Black and White photograph brings out the dramatic and edge in a good photo image, the black and white made the dramatic segments of the movie all the more "edgier" and more dramatic. And with the current movies that are filled with all the bells and whistles of 3D animation, non-stop special effects, it was a great, tight story that leaves you with a poignant message that really touches us.

This is a movie with many intricacies and flashbacks. I have read the original story by Mark Van Doren, and this movie shows just how much the filmwriters can flesh out the story to make it much more engaging and satisfying. The film version is so involved and nuanced that a new viewer would think it had come from a novel.
James Stewart brings a lot to the part of George Bailey. The whole story is made to be believable in spite of the alternate history twist. There are many elements in addition to melodrama, such as real historical backdrops of the depression and world war II. This movie is a tear jerker without being cloyingly sentimental, which shows why Frank Capra is such a great director. I would say this is the very best movie of its type ever made to date

It's been a few years since I last viewed "It's a Wonderful Life," but it still retains all the magic I recall from when I first saw it as a child in the early 1960s, a few years before it gathered a cult following.

Every time I see it, I am reminded that life is worth living, regardless of what life tosses at you. And that you can touch many more lives than you ever realize.

George Bailey is part of the liturgy of my life, and I'm glad I was able to purchase an online copy from Amazon for my viewing this year.

This is my favorite holiday movie. It just doesn't feel like Christmas till I see it. This year, it's only being broadcast once, and the snow caused us to lose reception on our satellite dish on that night. Amazon saved the day! And with excellent picture quality, too!

We love to see this movie every year at Christmas. This is the best black and white we have seen because Amazon Prime offers it in HD. We enjoyed it without commercials and it was great. We can now watch it anytime we want!

The perfect Christmas movie and has been for 65 years. Absolutely loved watching it on my Kindle Fire. I was SO glad it was in Black and White. I expected it was going to be the colorized one because of the picture and that just seems wrong somehow. Thank you!

You will start believing in miracles and in the existence of your guardian angel when you finish watching this Frank Capra masterpiece. The screenplay is about an angel who helps a compassionate but a frustrated and a bankrupt businessman by means of demonstrating to him what life would be in his town if he had never existed.This classic film stars James Stewart as George Baile. He plays a man who has had to give up all his dreams so that he could help his brother and other members in his community. One day, when he finds himself at the end of a financial rope and at the edge of bankruptcy, he contemplates committing suicide on Christmas Eve. This is when his guardian angel shows up and shows him that despit whatever trials and tribulations, it is a wonderful life and if he has one good to others, life will always remember him aa a kind soul and pay him back in good. This classic has the power to redefine most holiday classics with its bittersweet drama.
