AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Extension Cable: Reliable, highly functional, fast delivery

The AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable in it's 3.3 foot (1.0 Meter) length is an excellent, no-nonsense product and one worthy of the AmazonBasics name that many of us have grown to rely upon. Right out of the package, it does exactly what is expected.

Likes:

+ A-male to A-female extension cable; adds additional connectivity between devices
+ Gold-plated connectors; long-term connector reliability
+ AmazonBasics 1-year limited warranty; no-hassle returns if defective

Before we go any further, it's probably best to clarify what this cord is, and what it isn't. The best way to explain this would be to use a lamp or other household electrical device as an example. If you have a lamp and find that it's too far from a wall socket to plug in, you don't need to rewire the lamp. It's far easier (and more economical) to just get an electrical extension cord, plug the lamp into the extension cord's female receptacle and plug the extension cord into that wall outlet. It's that simple.

This USB 2.0 A-male to A-female extension cable works the same way. It extends the reach of a USB 2.0 device between the computer, for example, and the peripheral; nothing more and nothing less. For instance, if you have a USB 2.0 accessory that is too far from the computer, this cable will act in the same fashion as the extension cord on that lamp.

Have had the occasion to buy a few different AmazonBasics cables since the brand was introduced, and in each case, the product has performed exactly as the product specifications indicated. But what if one of them is malfunctioning, as happened to a friend of mine? Amazon makes it simple, and if it's being returned because it came defective or damaged, Amazon pays for shipping, and with no hassles.

There's an additional benefit if you have Amazon Prime, as two-day shipping is free. Can attest to this as I needed one of these cables to connect a printer that needed an additional 20-inches to make the connection. Ordered the cable on August 14, 2012, and it was shipped the same day. I received the cable via UPS on August 15 before 2:00 PM, just over 24 hours from the time that it was ordered. Your experience may vary according to location, but to me that's excellent service.

For those who need a longer length than 3.3 feet, there's the AmazonBasics USB 2.0 A-Male to A-Female Extension Cable (9.8 Feet/3.0 Meters) , which is three times the length for very little more. Just plan ahead and pick your length.

You can poke around and find USB 2.0 cables that are cheaper and more expensive. But considering that time is money, I can say that these from AmazonBasics are reasonably priced, made from top-notch components, and backed by an excellent warranty. And I have yet to have one fail in operation.

Since writing my original review, I've purchased another one of these USB extension cables to give enough length to my NEW Logitech 2MP Portable Webcam C905 USB Interface 2 Megapixel Black Widescreen HD video&photos to properly use it with my desktop system. Once again, that piece of equipment seems to be tailored to the laptop community, even with its stand, which is what I use (esp. with its shorter-than-necessary USB cable), but with one of these A-Male to A-Female extension cables, it's all good! Now that I'm Skyping with family across the country, I'd tried out many other webcams. The only drawback with the Logitech c905, compared to the other webcams I tried, was the short cord. That's no longer an issue with this extension cord, and I am a happy girl!

I just got this extension cable, and it does exactly what I was hoping it would (and spectacularly, at that).

This is the second of two of Amazon's AmazonBasics line of computer cords that I've purchased, and it works just as beautifully as my other one does. The gold plating on the connections ensures that the strength of the signal will leave nothing to be desired, and I really like the professional look that the small, hard plastic "AmazonBasics" "stamps" give to their line of products.

The Logitech mouse that I bought ( Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks (Dark Silver) ) was made with the expectation that it would be used with a laptop, or notebook, system, but with this extension cord attached to a USB port at the rear of my tower, the receiver can now communicate with the cordless optical mouse, giving me the comfort and cordless mouse functionality that I've been wanting for some time on my desktop system.

At this price (especially with the free shipping that I somehow got lucky enough to get when just buying this cord), and quality, this cord is a no-brainer if it's the sort of cord that you need. And this 1 meter cord was plenty long for my needs. I seriously doubt that there's a manufacturer out there capable of making a better version of this extension cord, especially at this price!

How 'bout that title?? Well, it really says most of how I feel, but... I bought this for one reason and one reason only. I have a Flip camera and I had noticed that the USB drive on it was starting to bend a little because when I plugged it in, it just kind of dangled from my laptop which also made it easy to bump. To save my flip from any further abuse, I bought this cable and it works like a charm! I only have a laptop, but I could see this being a blessing if you had a desk top computer too. Then I started realizing I could use it for just about anything that has a USB. I can even plug my wireless mouse stick into it and use my mouse still. Basically, anything with a USB that you would normally plug directly into your computer or laptop can be used with this cable. I was hoping I could use it to hook my laptop to my TV, and I can if I only want sound. To get sound and video I had to buy a male to male HDMI cable. If you are questioning quality, don't even give it a second thought! BUY IT! I'm sure you can get one here or on that auction site, shipped from China for a little less but 1. it will take FOREVER to arrive and 2. most of the time you get what you pay for. Hope this helps you decide!

HDMI ケーブル、SD カードなどで Amazon ベーシックの製品は使っていましたが、このシリーズはフラストレーションフリーパッケージと「ごく普通」の性能が安価に購入出来るという点でやはり良いですね。

Amazonベーシックの製品は他に Amazonベーシック HDMI-DVI アダプターケーブル 3.0m を使っていますが、毎日快適に使用しています。
今回はMacProの背面にあるUSBポートを使いやすくするために購入しました。
パッケージは箱ではなく、ビニールの袋です。
金メッキされた端子とアマゾンのロゴは黒いケーブルに良く映えとてもかっこいいと思います。
ケーブルは固そうに見えますが、取り回しに苦労するような固さではありませんでした。
接続についても問題は無くぐらつかずに差し込むことが出来ました。
今回は現行のMacで使うのでUSB2.0で良いのですが、今後USB3.0対応が発売されたらWindows環境用に用意しておこうと思います。
とてもコストパフォーマンスの高い製品だと思います。
