The classic original Beatles studio albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilising state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the Beatles catalogue has seen since its original release.

Within each CD's new packaging, booklets include detailed historical notes along with informative recording notes. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. The newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included as QuickTime files on each album. Mono wins

Oh my god. Last night listening to Revolver was a revolutionary experience. A completely different level of Beatles music. I had the Stereo LP and I've listened to that probably a solid 40-50 times so I have a pretty good experience in Revolver's sound.

Let me tell you, this MONO LP sounds incredibly better! Eleanor Rigby was like a completely different, and way better, song. McCartney's voice sounded so clear and crisp and the chorus was amazing. I'm Only Sleeping, Here There and Everywhere, For No One, And Your Bird Can Sing sound DEFINITELY better in mono. Seriously, you can sit down, pay little to no attention to the music, and still hear the better and more shaking difference between Mono and Stereo. Every other song does sound better in mono but the difference is less noted when compared to Stereo.

If you're a Beatles fan and never listened to them in Mono before, buy this. This is one record, alongside Sgt. Pepper's, that is meant to be heard in Mono. If you're a fan of mono I'm sure you've already ordered this.

Revolver is the true Beatles masterpiece!

I just listened to Revolver and was reminded why this is The Beatles' true masterpiece. It catches the Greatest Band Ever at the perfect moment! You have the band operating at their absolute peak in every way. They also decided to stop touring in 1966 to become a studio band only. Their follow-up album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, although brilliant, was mainly a project between John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Ringo himself said that he learned to play chess during the studio sessions for the Sgt. Pepper album, and George was clearly bored and frustrated with the whole experience. Revolver also incorporates the energy and creativity of the previous six U.K. studio albums, but also hints at the brilliance to come from Sgt. Pepper through Abbey Road, their final studio album. Abbey Road was released before Let It Be, however, because the Let It Be documentary movie was delayed for various reasons. (I'm still waiting for Let It Be to be released on DVD with the full Apple rooftop concert, by the way, along with millions of other Beatles fans. Are you listening, Paul?) Back to my review of Revolver now. Check out the track listing for Revolver yourself, then tell me what Beatles U.K. album has a stronger set of songs. Revolver was the first album that I listened to in its entirety in 1976, and it got me hooked on all of the other Beatles albums released before and since! The bottom line is this: Buy this album! It rocks like no other Beatles U.K. album previously or subsequently, with the possible exception of With The Beatles. (The U.S. albums, on the other hand, are another matter because Capitol included the singles.) Thanks for reading my review.

Warning: Make sure you are ordering the full version of this album! The original Capital Records U.S. version is missing 3 major songs, that were released on a different collection in the states. Look at the tracklist, and make sure that 'I'm Only Sleeping' 'And Your Bird Can Sing' and 'Doctor Robert' are included. You DO NOT want to miss these stellar tracks! I ordered the original U.S. version on accident, and it really messes up the flow without these songs. The album, in it's entirety, is amazing! Creatively, it is right up there with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Apple does it right on the 3rd go-round

Absolutely amazing remastering job. After listening to customer complaints since the remastered stereo LPs were released, Apple has really upped its game by committing to an all analog process, remastering straight from the master tapes, pressing all the records at one company to allow for better quality control.

The packaging is nearly identical to the original, right down to the yellow and black Parlophone label on the record itself (only difference is the minor addition of a Sony Music/ATV credit). There is a booklet which explains the intent of keeping the packaging as close to the original release as possible. The vinyl itself is beautifully thick and heavy (as was the original vinyl), well protected in a white antistatic sleeve. I own a pressing from 1966 and compared them side by side and there is no contest: this new release blows the old one away in terms of sound quality, even accounting for the wear and scratches accumulated from nearly 50 years of (careful) play.

I own nearly all of the original UK pressings of the Beatles albums in mono and they're in very good shape for their age, so while I was following the news about the various remasterings, and I was happy Apple was going to make the Beatles' music available again in the right way for newer listeners, I was skeptical about my own need for re-purchasing anything. But after taking a chance and trying this new release of Revolver out, I'm on board, and I'll probably buy the box set.

Take it from me: if you're on the fence about getting these new remastered mono vinyls... don't be. Short of a complete stereo remix of the original multitrack tapes, I think this is the best the Beatles' music will ever sound.

NOTE!! THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE 2014 MONO VINYL REISSUE!! Wow! How can I write this review without exaggerating? Oh wait! I can't! This new mono reissue sounds 100% perfect and sounded better than I expected. Everything is clear, crisp and clean. Plus the sound has a punch to it that I have never heard. I have heard this LP more times than I can tell you but when I took off the shrink wrap and put this record on, I felt like I was re-experiencing for the first time! This reissue sounds so incredible that my jaw was dropped through the whole album, I must've replayed it 2-3 times the day it arrived. IT'S THAT GOOD!! But, long story short, if you don't own this Beatles' masterpiece or already have it, get this mono reissue, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
