This book was definitely an eye opener as far as things that are little to no cost along with some psychology stuff in regards to customer service. Enjoyed it the only issue I had was that is was written in 2002 and doesn’t have a lot of advice on social media and how to stand out or utilize it. Good book just outdated.

The reason this doesn't get five stars is because the first half of the book is really tough to read. But the second half pays off. It's not about many different angles but one strong theme. This is not a "one book that covers everything" type book but really talking about why so many products fail. It will definitely make you think and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who owns a business or is starting one because it's central theme can be the life or death of your business.

This book is really geared towards persons who are starting up their businesses or trying to increase their toehold in whatever their market is, and those that are not related to franchises or direct sales products. Even though I fall into the latter category, I did glean insight on how my company could benefit from this and in ways they are are already. I gifted this to a friend who is starting up her business from scratch. She is in a saturated market, and will need to really stand out like a purple cow, or die from being ordinary. Two of my favorite quotes are: "Safe is risky," and "Be remarkable."

I'm not really one to waste a lot of time, so on the commute to work I love to listen to books on CD. As I have a part time on-line business, I appreciate insights and knowledge from others. I find Seth Godin extremely good at both. He knows how to put it in easy to understand language that makes you say, "I get it"!

The Purple Cow is about how to be remarkable and so outstanding in your field that you become a hub of profitability and you are viewed as an innovator. People want what you have because it is different and surprising. Godin gives plenty of examples of purple cows in his book and it sparks interest and ideas within you.

If you are a forward thinker, you will enjoy the book because it inspires you to take action of your own to be remarkable in whatever you do, to become a purple cow!
