I had this new and sealed large bottle in my cabinet and was thinking of throwing it because I have increasingly bad reactions to Nyquil, Benadryl (hyperactive bladder reaction, dizziness). But I notice it was not the same ingredient so kept it. Just a couple days ago I tried it for my wretched chronic allergy cough due to phlegm from lungs and post nasal drip. Miraculously it worked! I can't tell you what a blessing it is to have any relief at all. I take one pill with a large glass of water every four hours. It does wear off after four hours, so take some with you. It does not seem to have any side affects either. It is also reasonably priced. I highly recommend if you've tried everything with no success. A violent allergy cough can be debilitating and is not solved for very long with cough medicine, even the prescription kind.

If you’ve done a review on Amazon then you know that they ask questions like “how is the flavor?” I’ll tell you how the flavor is….awful. Do not ever bite one of these tablets. If you’re brave, you can try to swallow one whole. I usually cut them in half. Value for the money….Terrific. They may cost a few dollars less at Costco, but who wants to go to Costco. The location in S Ogden, UT, is so busy that I dread going there. I have resorted to buying some of their products on Amazon. Good value and works just as advertised.

These work well and last a long time. I don't know if you can chew these or not. I've just swallowed them with a glass of water - no problem. So I don't know about the flavor. This is a really good price for this item which works just as well as the name-brand ones but is a lot cheaper. Great thing to have on hand for the many colds and flu going around.

I like this medicine because you can cut the tablets in half and take one half a dose. I use a pill cutter. Also it does not contain other ingredients that I don't want to take. It is just Guaifenesin. Guaifenesin does not taste great, so I break it in half and swallow it with a flavored drink, ginger ale, or Ensure. Then I drink a glass of water. A full tablet is too drying for me. I think this is the best Guaifenesin I have used.

I've relied on guaifenisen for years both to keep from drowning in sinus goo & to help my fibro symptoms. It's great to find some at a decent price.
Another thing I love about this particular brand is, unlike the Mucinex & local generic brands, Kirkland doesn't give me intolerable heartburn --there's some inactive ingredient that burns holes in my gut in those other formulae.

I recently had to stop using the guaifenisen with dextromethorphan* because the DM was giving me incredible 'Restless Leg' issues, so it was VERY helpful to be able to get this less $$ brand quickly, without having to buy a Costco membership, & then drive there (a major chore where I live).

*the DM also helps fibro symptoms as well as nerve pain...I'm real sorry to have to stop using it.
Update 1/13: I missed the DM so much --I've had to go back to trying to sleep sitting up, since nerve pain issues already got so much worse w/o the DM-- that I'm trying taking it in the morning only...leaving at least 8-10 hours between taking it & when I might go to bed. Hopefully I can hit a balance between taking enuff DM to help the nerve pain & not enuff to cause the restless legs, which prevent me from sleeping in ANY position.

I have been using this 3 times within the last 5 ears. The prescription version is 600mg (M*U*C*I*N*E*X), and this is 400mg per tablet. It is not fast-working as it takes at least three weeks for the phlegm to loosen up and get out while 2 in the morning and 1-2 at night "Every-other-day". Oftentimes when we are in need, we expect immediate results. This is one that has to be incorporated over a period of time to see results. I have allergies to things such as vehicle emissions, dust, pollenation, grass-cutting, furry pets, etc. I have been using this for 2 and a half months and I am pleased with this product. In 2010 I have a bad bout with bronchitis and this helped me to get rid of fluids that might of led to pneumonia. Also, you have to exercise your lungs by taking deep breaths in and doing "hoo", "huuh", and "haww" short bursts outward. Sort of forcing my lungs to work. And keep your nasal passages clear by blowing your nose frequently. This may work for some, and others not. I am just sharing my experience with this.

I personally take the 1200 mg extended release. We also use the 600 mg extended release, though they make him (partner) jittery. The 400s, immediate release, dont seem to bother him. These, specifically the Kirkland 400 mg tablets, are scored in the middle. I can easily snap them in half for my 20 year old. He takes a cocktail of anti-epileptics for intractable epilepsy that would make the most jaded DEA agent shake their head; a lot of medicines that are OTC - particularly those that stimulate or suppress the CNS (think antihistamines, decongestants, etc.) are likely to really spurn more seizures. It SUCKS but sometimes I have to become helicopter mom and hover because he just needs the OTC sinus medicine *that bad* or he's just miserable. (He's also developmentally delayed, so he lashes out when he doesn't feel well - maybe thats the male part of him and not the DD [lol].) Anyways, if I split one of these down (to a 200 mg) when I just have to thin his mucus due to allergies, it helps without necessarily causing more seizures.

Now for the even weirder part: He also has EoE. The doctor told me to open a Rx steroid med, mix with so manynpackets of Stevie, and have him swallow after he was finished eating & drinking. This kid also has oral motor issues. The doc wanted the impossible. Lo, I figured out which foods cause the flare-ups and if he starts showing symptoms, we give half of a tablet twice a day. Actually helps the EoE better than the Rx (the few times I was able to convince him to try and swallow a 'spoonful of sugar [substitute]').
