Size: 6-Quart

I have tons of these boxes (the 6 quart size) in my classroom because they're the most basic type of plastic storage box you can get and one of the cheapest. I typically check Amazon first before I buy almost anything and usually end up buying here, so I was surprised to see that these were $2 each. I've seen them for $1 or less at many other stores and most of mine I've bought at 0.89 to 0.95. Anyway, about the boxes themselves...they're durable enough for storage and keeping things organized but if you're looking for something that can hold up to moving, being bumped around, or heavier items, they're probably not the best choice. The lids are pretty secure and stay on as long as the box isn't overstuffed but I've had several lids and a few of the actual boxes crack on occasion. I've never bought bigger than the 6 quart size of this type for exactly that reason. If you're looking for bigger or sturdier ones, I'd suggest the latching boxes by Sterilite instead (all of mine have either green or purple latches but I've recently seen the same ones in other colors). I also have tons of those at home and school and they're super durable and great for kids especially, albeit a little more expensive than these.

If you're looking for a very basic storage box that's not going to get much rough and tumble use, these are definitely the most cost effective choice. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

Smaller than advertised

Both the product description and the item's label state the dimensions of this box as 13 5/8" x 8 1/4" x 4 7/8". The actual measurements of the interior are at least half an inch less than what is cited. At the base, I get a measurement of 11 1/4" by 6 1/8". At the top, including only the interior measurement (excluding the overhang where the lid snaps on), I get measurements of 12 3/4" by 7 5/16". The maximum depth is 4 1/2".

I had bought two dozen of these with the intention of straightening up the closet and using the extras for storing some crafting supplies and canning tools. This box is definitely not large enough for most men's shoes, or for larger women's shoes. I wear a size 9W and some of my bulkier shoes (clog styles) do not fit. As you can see, the clear ruler I use to measure head space is just a tad too long to fit in flat on the bottom of the bin.

Great for shoes

I bought 48 of these containers. Of the 48 that I purchased 2 arrived broken which I didn't think was bad but based on other reviews I would assume this is common so price a few broken containers into your purchasing decision. Despite several arriving broken they are more than sturdy enough for shoes and I have them stacked 10 high and could have easily stacked them higher. They stack very easily and fit together well. I wear a size 8 1/2 and I love high heels and even my highest heels fit into the boxes although for heels over 5 inches you do have to angle the shoes opposite each other and lie them flat to fit them into the box. Overall I would recommend these containers and I plan to buy more when my shoe collection expands.

Four Sizes Of Sterilite Bins ~ Movers & Organizers' Dream!! : )

Very satisfied with these bins and will be ordering more soon!

Having moved multiple times while working in the Property Management industry (and sometimes with little notice), I learned that having around 10 good size bins on hand was an excellent investment! Less tape, cardboard, and wrapping to deal with when you have strong bins with handles to help make the move.

Each time a friend or family member would move, we'd lend them out and then put them in our storage closet when not in use. The bins we have for that purpose are huge, Rubbermaid, solid colors, and more of a heavyweight type bin. (After this move, we will likely get rid of those, since discovering the Sterilite 30 Quart bins!)

Our next move finally being into a place we are purchasing and with my not going back to work until after we get moved... I've been doing a ton of organizing. I haven't used the label maker yet, lol but uploading some photos so you can compare sizes.

The larger, listed first below, are some we have recently purchased via Amazon, and that are going to be making our next move a breeze!! (And unpacking, Wooo! ~Since it will mostly just be taking boxes out of boxes, haha)

*Sterilite 19859806 30-Quart Ultra Latch Box, White Lid See-Through Base with Titanium Latches, 6-Pack (Especially great for taller items, such as bath products purchased in bulk, larger sized tall bottles, etc) These are the largest bins shown in photos, upper and lower shelves.

*Sterilite 16448012 16-Quart Storage Box, White Lid with See-Through Base, 12-Pack (Great for coralling like-items around the house. I use one for my nail station, another for hair dye and so on, one for candles, and overflow party supplies, etc) These are on the left side of linen closet, middle shelves, in photos.

*Sterilite Large Flip Top Storage Box, Set of 6 (Love these for shoes that are off season or worn less often. Also great for organizing smaller items like wall hangers, adhesives, light bulbs, etc.) These are in photo on right side of linen closet, middle shelf.

*Sterilite 18038612 Small Flip Top Storage Box, Pack of 12 (These small bins are great for smaller items. We use one for soaps, one for foundations since I have darker colors for summer, etc. Multiple uses, magnets, pins/ brooches, key chains or craft or hobby items, etc) There is just one of these in the photos, stacked above a large flip box.

The linen closet made for a quick couple photos but we do use these all over the house. What's especially nice about the 30 quart size, for us, is we can use them for overflow of pantry or bath items that are taller. I haven't seen this size in stores...

These are perfect for moving, in terms of size, handles, and weight. And we don't need to store them because we can always have these in use. My husband will love that I won't be asking him to get me down the big super heavy bin from the top of the storage closet lol... Because I can work with these, easy-peasy!!

I highly recommend all of these Sterilite bins. Been using some of them for years and they do hold up well. Buy with confidence. Smile. Hope this is helpful!

Good Purchase and Good Quality for womens shoes.

The wife Loved these. The 6QT. size was accommodating for most shoes. However I did purchase the 16QT. size (Blue lids) for shoes with larger heels and or small boots.
