Sturdy construction . Stand off was good to get you out away from a standard drip edge on a gable end of your house. Took the advice of reviewers and bought some sturdier zinc lag bolts at Lowes (hence the 4 star rating). The key is to locate your studs. I located the stud inside where it was dry-walled keying on an electrical outlet (on a stud) and measured the distance from the chosen stud to the window edge and then mirrored it on the outside to identify my drill point. It worked great and was right on the stud at first attempt. Used a 4-foot level to plumg the mast when setting the second clamp. The clamp at the bottom had one bolt into the stud and the other into the 7/16 sheeting. The clamp at the top had both bolts in solid wood because I was on the 2X6 roof-edge rafter. Will have to wait and see how the hardware holds up against corrosion over time (advertised as zinc coated so should be ok). I used a 1 and 1/4 inch diameter mast purchased at Lowes (comes in 5 foot sections which fit very tightly together).

I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled this out of its shipping box. This is probably the strongest mount I have seen for simple roof-top mounting. One thing to note though, is there is another section, not included that Channel Master makes, perhaps for use in another product, that will extend the height more. It's a perfect fitting add-on for the he two pipe sections in this package and should provide enhanced reception.. My installer provided me one.I plan to use it.. Further extensions however, beyond this, iaren't practicable as the piping is heavy, and with a single point mounting bracket on the bottom probably would require guy wires to properly secure it.

I looked at several Chimney Mounts and read multiple reviews before purchasing this item. The complaints about the included instructions are valid - they suck. However, going on-line to the Channel Master web site provides a wealth of information (most important for me was how to attach the buckle to the strap - I do not find it to be intuitive, but the web site made it very clear). Several points: 1) The chimney I attached this mount to is stucco over concrete block - so the chimney is solid but the stucco can be problematic. To help protect the surface layer, I used 4" lengths of 1" aluminum angle (1/8" thick) on the three corners away from the brackets (which are 1&1/2" wide). 2) I was able to do the job by myself by using Paracord to hold the brackets. The chimney is 32" on each side (square) so I placed a loop over the long end of the bracket, ran the Paracord around the chimney and hooked it to the short end of the bracket. I then positioned the bracket and snugged up the rope. The Paracord has some "stretch" to it so I was able to place the aluminum angle under it on each corner and, with all pieces held in place, I ran the strap (pulled taut) around the chimney and fastened it to the bracket (I was amazed how well it all worked - my "Rube Goldberg" attempts are not always so efficient). Once the brackets were in place, I mounted the mast (10' of 1" EMT Conduit), used a level to verify that it was vertical (only slight adjustment was necessary) and tightened all hardware. Easy Peasy...

I purchased this specifically to use to mount my weather station on the peak of my pole barn. It was extremely easy to mount the bracket to the barn and equally easy to put the weather station on it and then get up the ladder and but the pole on the bracket. Three screw attach the pole to the bracket and it is easily adjustable. The steel is decent thickness and strong enough to hold up to a 70 mph wind gust that I recorded off the weather station just a few days after installing it at the first of November. The paint appears to be of good quality - it did not scratch during installation and before I wrote this review, I got out the extension ladder and climbed up to it and inspected it.

It has been in use almost 8 weeks and is holding up as good as new. Although I did not use it for a TV antenna, I feel that it would hold up well with any light object, such as an antenna or a weather station. Highly recommend this if you are looking at it and comparing to other mounts. I did spend several days comparing and chose this one - I am very happy with my decision.

I needed a pole to mount my Tempest weather station and this was perfect. The outer circumference of the pole was an exact fit. I also purchased the Dakepole umbrella anchor on Amazon to hold the pole. The combination has withstood 60mph wind gusts! This is a perfect combination for use with the Tempest.

I acutally ended up mounting inside my attic, because of how my local stations work out with distance and interference. BUT, these would have worked perfectly outside. They are solid, and the offset would have gotten my mast past the lip of my roof just fine.
