The gameplay
The game is a 3d fighter thats lets you travel almost everywhere on the battlefields. The combat has been always unique as a fighter. Its a 1 on 1. Your brave is what damage you do
and using hp/ex burst attacks is the only way to damage the ehnemy. As you recharge brave or have near empty, the enemy has a chance to break status you if go past zero brave-Have to recharge from zero to max brave unable to do damage til then and enemy gets a big brave bonus. Asist partners have been added so hp attacks are easier to land. Making the gameplay more well rounded. Asist are not infinite and take meter to use asist. The game rewards more defensive skilled players. Able customize to change your fighters play style.
Deep character development.
Rpg level ups,learning new moves and earning your characters full potential is rewarding upon itself.
Improved story mode
A rpg world map of final fantasy 1,funner grid dungeons rules,roaming enemies on world map and
moogle stores.
Change your character plays with different stat. changing equps.
New stages-Bahamut roof ff12, Play airship ff9, ff13 dungeon and more.
New characters-Prishe ff11,Vaan ff12, Yuna ff10, Laguna ff8, Tifa ff7, Kain ff4, Lightning ff13, Gilgamesh ff5, Feral Chaos.
All character have unique play styles.-like arc system works. rosters.
New non dlc costumes for some characters.
Detailed records and character origin info.
New summonings
Can save replays of battles.-computer battles or pvp
Plenty of modes
3 arcade modes,story mode(old and new storyline) and a new labryinth mode.
A interesting, original storyline
Versus-adhoc or computer versus.
New attacks for old cast members and some entirely remastered old cast,making them more effective-emperor(improved overall),cloud(faster attack speed),firion(improved overall) and shantotto.(chain hp attacks with brave attacks now)
New optional type of versus king of fighters team based rules -for adhoc pvp or bot combat. Can save team data for easy and fast selecting.
New music to battle to.-Jenova,Fight for freedom etc.
Deep,unique,fun combat if you invested in the pvp long enough to find out.
Great voice talents and tones matches characters(english cast)-Chaos s english actor, Cloud of darkness, lightning,vaan s original VA, etc.
Art style defined ingame graphics, not the all too used common realism.
Ex burst attacks do less damage, it was overpowered in the first game. More rewarding,more difficult to finish off opponents with this since asist lowers ex bar.
Ex bar counter/custom combo is fun to use.
The most funnest way to win. Best added feature to combat.
The bad
Uneven character roster reps.
Mostly new heroes, barely any new villains. Not even a final fantasy tactics rep.-Ramza,Agrias and Ultima would of been great. Could of added Seymour ff10, Genesis ff7cc, Seifer ff8,
Vayne ff12 or even the main falcie villain of ff13 for villains reps.
Some voice actors are not even trying-Sephiroth VA did better in the ff7acc movie, Cloud as well wasnt even trying. Only in the battle cutscenes do you feel the emotion in their acting.(english cast)
More needed balance to the asist bar gauge, easy to build, whiff attacks builds too, easy for some than others.
Nice dlc costumes for money.
Conclusion
A great rpg fighter
with fun,original rules of hits own.
Pvp and deep character development is the greatest strengths to this game. Plenty of single player modes too. Detailed records. Replay fond battle memories. I had to renew my review cause my old one didnt do this game justice. This one improves on conveying my thoughts on matters and is more detailed as much as I can make it
on key features or cons. Hope this helps people even more. I may redo all old reviews.
