    I should have read the reviews since I made the same mistake as several people, I bought this for my PHS300, which uses the 5V cable, 5.5mm/2.5mm. This size cable appears to be the newer 12V style for the CTR35 and other models.

    Anyway, I had the cable and for $1.78 I was not going to send it back so what the heck, I ordered this "CTD Metric Magnum Super Premium 2.5mm Drill Bit (2 Pack)" for $3.60 including shipping and drilled out the 2.1mm plug to 2.5mm. It worked! I am now running my PHS300 off a USB cigarette lighter adapter and the combination of the cable and the drill bits was still a lot cheaper than any other solution I have seen, plus I have 2 2.5mm bits if I ever need them in the future.

    I gave the cable 5 stars because it had enough metal in there that I could drill it out .4mm and it still worked.

    thx to this, i was able to connect them to one another, now hopefully i get to use the portable projector for about 3hrs or so (as the site says it should last) instead of the 30min that the ori battery gives (and they're about the same size) XD;
    i bought this product mainly for fun at first to see wat i can use it for XD; (since it can probally be used with alot of items i have around) and the other usb barrel jack they have on amazon (which im using now to help my laptop cooler to work again) although i wish i could find more then jus the 2 sizes they have here (the 5.5mm and 3.5mm)

    I evaluated this cable for a product that I produce. I needed a cable to use with the ReVIVE Series Solar ReStore 1500mAh External Battery Pack with Universal USB Charging Port for HTC , Motorola , Samsung , T-Mobile Android Smartphones / Kindle 2 , DX , Nook / AT&T and Verizon Apple iPod , iPhone and More USB Powered Devices, which I plan to offer as an alternate power source. I also evaluated the StarTech.com USB2TYPEM 3 Feet USB to Type M Barrel 5V DC Power Cable which sells for $5.99 [as of this writing] on Amazon.com but is also eligible for free shipping [for orders of $25 or more].

    For the price, this cable is not bad. It seems well made and it fits snugly in the 2.1mm jack on my device. The one I received was 1" shy of 5 feet, even though the catalog description specified only 3', so that's a plus. But, the cable is not as "heavy duty" as the $5.99 cable, so I wouldn't trust it in a high use application. It probably could stand up to a lot of moderately rough handling, but the insulation on the $5.99 cable is around twice as thick and thus doesn't flex nearly as much at the back end of the connectors. In my experience this is the most common failure point--the interface between the cable and the "strain relief" [which, in most cases, does little to prevent strain and thus cable fatigue is rarely prevented].

    I chose the $5.99 cable because the device that I plan to offer it with often undergoes a lot of rough handling in the field and I want it to provide many years of trouble free service.

    BTW: one thing missing from the product description is the polarity--the one I received was positive in the center and negative on the sleeve.

    I bought this hoping that the dimensions would fit the circular dimensions of my Astro Mixamp: but to my disappointment. The measured 2.1mm looks to be a bit "too small" and the positive node would not fit no matter what. It's a shame, but I was expecting this. However at this price with free shipping: I don't feel burned at all. I ended up finding another use for this AC to USB Adapter soon thereafter and the item works great! The cable is about 30 inches or 2.5 feet. So if cable length is a concern, take notice of this. I give it 5 stars because the item works, the service works, and the price is hard to beat.

    For those who plug-in USB-based devices near TVs or displays, these seem to work great. I have this connected via a USB/AC combo outlet (neat devices to replace your standard AC receptacles) and it helps power an HDMI extender over CAT5. The connector works wonderfully. Only advice is measure carefully when it comes to 2.1 versus 2.5, for me I got lucky with my english-ruler (why can't the world just use one measuring system) and was able to get the right cable right away.

    Should be able to handle your needs assuming you do inside diameter (ID) and outside diameter (OD) measurements correctly!

    This item is too tight - the inner diameter is smaller than spec. And don't wait a month for drop-ship from Hong Kong, just don't buy it or buy American. I wish we lived in a world where you could pay $9 for this item but know it was quality-made. Instead, you roll the dice on this crap from overseas, wait a month for it to get here, and it doesn't work.

    This appears to be a recurring issue. For the price, one purchase of a wrong device won't break the bank, but it is frustrating, considering how long it takes to receive. For some reason this showed up in the results of a search for "Acer Iconia a500 tablet charger", but sadly does not fit the power plug. It would've been great if it worked, but I had decided to simply eat the cost ($1 is not worth stressing over), but I imagine that's where they are probably making money. Sell an item that may not be what you're looking for for so cheap that the hassle in returning it wouldn't be worth it to anyone.

    I needed this for an old GPS I had lost the power cable for. This did the job perfectly for me. It's quality is good I find it to be of better quality then you would find on other sites that I wont name. It's been about 2 years or more since I've had this product and it's still working strong.

    2.0 out of 5 stars Too much resistance for a power cable
    Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 2, 2015
    This cable has far too much resistance for something described as a 'Power Supply Cable'. I measured the resistance at 3.3 ohms using a good digital meter. To put this into perspective, if even only 0.5 amp was being drawn, 1.65 volts would be dropped between the USB connector and plug. So 5 volts at source would be reduced to only 3.35 volts at whatever was being powered! Many items may need far less current to charge and may work perfectly well with this cable. However I would expect the resistance of a 'power cable' to be 1 ohm at most.

    I bought this cable to get power on one of my usb devices and it works ok. if you need extra power is ok, but be careful, because the barrel jack is 5.5mm, to big for the majority of the usb devices.
