I've been using this product for many, many years, both the 3M brand and others. After reading some of the poor reviews, one things stands out... No one mentions CLEANING the surfaces they want the tape to stick to!
This is IMPERATIVE!! Use alcohol, lacquer thinner, acetone, contact cleaner, whatever. Everything develops a thin layer of dust on it, and brand new items, if metal may have a film of oil or some other lubricant on it, and brand new plastics will most certainly have remnants of a mold release agent on them. Guess what the mold release agent is designed for... making sure the plastic doesn't stick to the mold!! Clean your surfaces thoroughly, and you'll be surprised!!

Has A Strong Hold, But Not For Long!

I needed a stronger adhesive to hold some brackets in place that I'm running cables & wires through. This stuff has a stronger adhesive than some of the poster/wall mounting Scotch 3M products that I was using. Will update review if anything changes, but I'm happy with the results so far.

Edit #1 : 12/20/18 - After just a little over two weeks, the tape has lost it's adhesion. If I had to describe it, it's almost as if the glue that made it stick evaporated/dissipated from the foam. I've reapplied new tape to a bracket I was needed to mount, and I'll update again if it happens again. I've deducted 1-star from my review.

Edit #2 : 07/21/19 - I've had to stop using this tape to hold a plastic bracket in place on a wood surface. The results continued to be the same. After 10-14 days the tape would lose adhesion resulting in it falling off of the surface that I stuck it to. To be clear, I cleaned both surfaces with alcohol to ensure it was a dirt free surface. I've deducted another star because of this.

It is extremely important to clean tile or similar surfaces with alcohol just before application, to press very firmly on the tape for the indicated amount of time, and then to let the mounted strip sit for awhile before you put weight on it. I used mine to mount a small oak strip with pegs on it, to hold pretty pewter measuring cups. I made sure the weight was within the manufacturer’s guidelines, and waited two days before I put the cups on the mounted rack. Result: great!

There was an air freshener I needed to attach to the inside of my trash can and wasn't sure what to use. I saw another well-known brand of tape but when I looked at the reviews, I knew to stay away. One of those reviews though led me here and I'm glad they did. I was initially planning only on using it for my air freshener right away but when I saw that it can hold 10lbs, I decided to use it to hang my bedroom mirror which didn't come with a hanging kit. I will be moving soon and didn't want to waste time by hanging it will nails, screws, and whatever else would be with a wall kit. I put a piece across the top of the mirror and the same across the bottom as well as 2 smaller pieces on the sides (just to be safe). It's not a heavy mirror but the crappy walls in my apartment aren't exactly smooth & flat! I held it down for about 30 seconds as directed and it's holding perfectly. The air freshener weighs a few ounces so that one I only used a small piece. I'm so glad I found this tape and will probably be using it to hang much more once I move.

I really wanted this to work but it did not at all. There was no real strong adhesion. I was trying to mount a lightweight mirror on the back of my bedroom door. Every time my door opens and closes it falls off. I used a significant amount of tape still didn’t do anything. Very disappointed. Although it is easy to remove. Probably too easy

Update: totally destroyed a very expensive vase doesn’t hold anything up. I was using it for something that way literally 1 pound. And it fell off the wall and demolished one of my vases so mad!!!

I was shocked when it got here. I got the extreme 400 inches because it was so good when i bought the 10 pound max last time i loved it, even though my only gripe would have been the thickness, this version listed here is somewhere around half as thick.

I use this stuff as much as possible. Down to using the last .5 inch last week. Went to buy a replacement and this huge roll fit the bill.

Here's a hint if you're like me and HATE getting 'gunk' stuck to the sides of rolls of very strong tape. Use a good cling wrap to protect it. Roll out enough to cover the whole roll on its side. take a new blade from a razor knife and go around it to trim the extra off.

As you use the roll it will need to be trimmed of course, but during the life of the roll it will be just like new on the sides, and since you're using cling wrap it doesn't shred as it comes off.

I used to do it with masking tape but you have to use a lot, and I found cling wrap that has a slightly sticky side (I use glad press-n-seal) has a slightly sticky side on the bottom as you roll it out to help seal it around a bowl or whatever you use that stuff for.

I did make the mistake once of leaving a roll out in the garage. i live in phx and it got to 120 degrees here, and it was 125 in the garage. that long stretch melted everything but it still looked usable. only problem was it seemed to melt the glue to the red strip on top making it nearly impossible to get started.

anyway, I'm sure i'm the only one dumb enough to leave in a really hot environment, but i can't stand rolls of tape getting hair and dirt all over the side, so cling wrap solves it for me.

This tape is fantastic, and it simply does what it says it does

El producto es estupendo, gran adherencia, fácil de usar, mucha resistencia, pero lamentablemente llegó con el empaque abierto. Es imposible saber si el metraje llegó completo o si le cortaron un tramo. La cinta, por su tipo de embalaje no se puede separar para medirla y saber si está completa. No la devolví porque de verdad era ultra urgente esta cinta para mi trabajo y no puedo salir por la contingencia. En ninguna tienda comercial convencional esto podría ser vendido, hay que tener mayor cuidado con ello.
