1942

NR
4.0 out of 5 stars (1) IMDb 5.7/10

Tracy is a wisecracking reporter who weaves his way into the underworld to find the killer. Things get more complex when the crook whom Tracy suspects is the killer ends up dead himself! LaRue shines as a sleazy night club owner. Tracy aged tremendously in the ten years following Doctor X. Good B movie. 16mm.

I'm sort of biased when it comes to Lee Tracy films. This actor was always playing the huckster, con man, swindler, fast talking newspaperman, or carnival barker types. I don't think that I've seen him play any other sort of part. This 1942 film has him playing a wisecracking reporter again. He also plays a reporter in a really cool pre-code film from 1932 - Doctor X. Lee Tracy stars with Lionel Atwill - the guy who seems to be in every 1930's horror film made - and Fay Wray. Check it out after you watch this.
