I've used and abused a lot of earphones over the years. I have a hard time finding 'phones that will fit comfortably in my ears and stay in, especially with heavy activity. Every pair I've ever had has lasted me less than three months before it fell apart. The cords came out, the speaker cups separated, or they simply drowned in the wash, trapped in the pockets of my jeans or a hoodie.
The sound quality had always been disappointing, if not downright distracting. They always sounded either distorted, unbalanced, or just plain crappy. It didn't matter what brand or what price range I tried - everything from $5 JVCs to $100 Beats - they all sounded wrong. I'd all but given up on finding affordable earphones that measured up to my audiophile standards.
And then I tried Sennheisers. They were sixty bucks when I bought them, and I figured they obviously weren't fashion statements like Beats or Skullcandy 'phones, so maybe they put that money into actual engineering. So I gave them a try.
Best money I've ever spent. They fit in my ears perfectly, with or without the foam caps, which for me is impressive in of itself. The sound coming out of these things is simply unbelievable. They sound almost as good as my studio-quality over-ear headphones, and while lacking the depth of my hi-fi system or my car stereo, every note comes through just as clear and clean as it does on my budget audiophile speakers.
And the darn things are seemingly indestructible. In the eighteen months I've had these, (six times as long as any other pair, mind you,) the sound quality hasn't degraded in the least, which is especially amazing considering everything I've put them through. I constantly yank on the cord and slam the cups into hard objects, I've literally run them over, and I just pulled them out them out of the wash for what must be the fifth or sixth time. Apart from the foam caps which disappeared long ago, they're basically good as new.
I'm buying two more pairs now before they go out of stock, just so I have backups. I cannot recommended these things highly enough. If they're still available, get them. You will not be disappointed.
