I wasn't excited about the shock mount. Initially I thought it costs way too much. Now that it's here ??? I'm very excited about it ! I see why the cost is what it is. It's designed to fit any mic. It's also supported by a spring like resistance.Highly recommended. The quality is on point.
If you have a big microphone, this will hold it securely and will work well with the added Rycote foam pop filter (not included). Hold the microphone securely and allows relatively quick removal of the mic between sessions.
The lyre mount mechanism is great and supports a wide variety of microphones. The universal mounting screws are rubber coated and have angle adjustable ends so they make secure contact regardless of your mic's shape or dimensions. I feel my mic is secure and will not slip or come loose during use.
I don't think it provides quite as good isolation from low frequency thumps and bumps as other flexible band style mounts. You should experiment with the mounting point because the isolation seems to improve if you find the center of mass. The trade off to this slightly lower isolation is you get to mount mic at any angle you wish without it flopping around. This is my pet peeve with most other flexible mounts. Not an issue with this mount!
Used this to mount up an ElectroVoice RE20, and it worked wonderfully
The mount system is cool, no elastic bands. So i hope the longevity will be good.
Was super easy to rig up, and works wonderfully. I can tap on the boom arm, the desk, and throw the whole rig all over the place. Mic ain’t picking up a thing.
I was all set to be impressed with this shock mount based on the reviews and the price as compared to other shock mounts. I do like the fact that it will relatively securely hold my Apogee HypeMIC but the hold is not as secure as I would expect given this shock mounts reputation as one of the benchmark products in this niche.
As to the function of the shock mount, I don't detect any difference in the sound deadening, but I will continue to monitor it. My studio is a relatively dead room with lots of sound deadening in place and the ambient sound is pretty close to professionally silent. I use a relatively high quality RODE Arm and all of the proper mounting sets. That said, there is some arm movement sound and that is what I hoped to isolate, if not eliminate.
That simply was not the outcome thus far. I will keep monitoring it, but I will say, I think the primary issue with the outcome thus far is that they don't use elastic bands, instead, they use plastic shock absorbers. I get how these will last longer, but they aren't remotely as effective at mitigating shock as elastic bands.
That is what it is, and for now, I grade this two stars. I will adjust this review if it proves to improve my sound recording quality.
These are very nice microphone shock mounts and the price has dropped in half on them from when they were introduced. This one is intended for microphones up to 55mm in diameter. I have over 50 microphones and it's nice to have a shock mount that works with so many models.
I have two of these Rycote models currently and I'm going to get more next year with our new budget.
Measure your mic carefully and buy these with confidence, they're A LOT better than the cheap shock mounts from China.
See picture included.....I would love to give a review but I can't use the product. The 5/8 thread adapter fits into mount however the company apparently didn't thread the inside. I would love to call them to ask if I'm manually supposed to groove in the threads with my custom built threader machine, but the phone number is 29 digits and impossible to call.
1.0 out of 5 stars
Is this a joke?

Bought this to hold my vintage 1969 Neumann U87 and wasn't sure it'd be totally up to the job based on the price. However I would buy another one of these in a flash as they are far far better value than the Neumann mounts (totally overpriced) and very sturdy.
