Clues change, evolve, and stretch as each player adds to the scrolls. View larger. Funny from the Get-Go
Fun from start to finish, Scribblish first requires each of the six players to choose a captioned card. Up against the clock, players must apply their scribbling skills as they each draw a picture to match the caption on their card. After the timer stops, players cover their images with their Scribble Scroll and roll the die to see who they'll pass their picture to.
From there, all players must write, draw, and interpret what they see on the card for each timed round. Figure out which picture leads to your original card, or get voted as having the funniest caption or image to gain points. The results are almost always hilarious and the game is wonderfully addictive.
A Built-In Element of Surprise
Thanks to the Scribble Scrolls, players will have to rely on their imaginations to win. Scribblish allows each person only one clue--either a caption or an image--to create the text or image to match what's on the card.
Much like in the childhood game of Telephone, clues change, evolve, and stretch further from their original captions as the players interpret what they see. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to turn this into that!
Two Ways to Win
You don't have to be Picasso to win this drawing game. Players can claim victory by correctly guessing which final image comes from their original card, or by being voted as having the best drawing or caption. Because each picture or comment is done by a different person, each player has an even chance of figuring out which scroll is theirs.
Players can reward the clowns and artists in the group by placing tokens next to the caption or image they like best.
What's in the Box
60 Scribblish cards, timer, six Scribble Scrolls, tablet of playing sheets, six-sided die, 12 tokens, and instruction booklet.
From the Manufacturer
“Grab your pencils and get ready to giggle. Everyone chooses a caption and draws a picture. You all then take turns adding drawings or captions. At the end can you guess which picture was yours when you started? Which one is funniest? Vote for your favorite to win!” Scribble your way to win in CRANIUM’s hilarious new game SCRIBBLISH, a game that combines drawing with “telephone.” During the game, players are invited to draw their best sketch that represents the phrase on the game card. The first player starts by drawing what they read on a statement and passes it to the next player who has to write a statement describing the drawing. The next person turns those words into images. The scrolled-story continues to be passed around the room until all players have a chance to draw. Players read the story created out loud to find out how “this” became “that”!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2013This game is lots of fun! And can be played with friends of all of ages (as long as they can read and draw).
We had so many laughs!!
The logistics don't always make sense/seem pointless and we don't usually follow them.
The timer is a bit odd. Not quite sure what it's timing because it beeps in short spurts. Not sure if that means to pass or if you wait until the last beep and then pass. Either way we don't use it. We pick an amount of time (1-2 mins) and use our phone. Some people say it shouldn't be timed but the rush sometimes that adds to the 'confusion' and creates a totally far fetched end result.
As for the points, we would just pick out who's was the funniest and didn't keep track. We were having too much fun to car who won or lost.
We literally were in tears at times at laughing so hard.
We also stopped using the dice after while because often people would be getting their own back right away. (For instance if you pass to your left, and then pass back to your right, it goes to the person who just draw/wrote before you). So we just worked in one direction. You can roll the dice the first time and follow that for the full game. And usually when we know that we've come full circle we put them in the middle and scramble them up.
Even though the directions are pretty much useless the game is so much fun with alterations. We have bags full of games, but once we started this one we could not stop! Everyone wanted to keep going, I am surprised we didn't use up all of the papers.
It's definitely better with a larger group so you can pass it without getting your own right away.
So usually we just pick a card/statement, start drawing it while using a 1-minute timer, then pass once the timer buzzes. We hide the original statement that is written on top of the paper by using the scribble scrolls and pass it to the next person. The next person tries to guess what you drew and writes it as a new statement. Then they hide the picture you drew and passes the scroll over with only their statesmen showing, and then the next person draws that statement. This continues until you reach the end of the scroll.
Then we put them all in the middle face down, scramble them, and then turn them face up. Only the last drawing should be showing. Everyone tries to guess there's and picks which they think is funniest. Then we unroll and we all laugh about each one and how it had changed.
Lots of fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2010We all laughed our brains out!!!!!!
Scribblish is a ton of fun, especially if you can't draw! It's hilarious confusion and fun for everyone!
The whole point of the game is to try and scribble something like the ridiculous phrase on the card you start with ("I'm secretly a mermaid", or something like that). Then you pass your drawing, and get someone else's drawing and write a phrase for that (whatever it looks like, you just describe it). Pass again and this time, you are only allowed to see the last thing on the sheet (someone else's phrase for a drawing done by yet another person)and things are already getting silly!
By the time the sheet is full (about 7 turns) everthing is totally confused and everyone is laughing their heads off trying to figure out how their crazy phrase turned into some totally different drawing.
You score by guessing which crazy scribble came from your starting phrase and you get points for being funny!!!!
I love this game!!!!! I would recommend this game to anyone over about 8 years old, especially groups of 5 or more. Great for families, friends, etc.
It takes about 2 minutes to learn and is just totally fun! Not serious or competitive, just alot of laughs!
5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2012The game is fabulously fun! We don't use the scoring system--it's fun enough just to look at the resulting sketch-and-caption progressions.
I wish there were a few more cards, but honestly, even when you use the same card a few times, it can turn out completely different than previous versions. However, we're about out of the sketch pad pages. It doesn't come with many. Of course, you can play the game without having the official sketch pages, but unless you have the right size paper to fit in the holders, you end up with irregular folds... meaning it's pretty easy to tell the different "Scribblishes" apart by the way they're folded. Not knowing how a sketch or caption started out is part of the game.
It's surmountable, but I'm pretty disappointed. You can see Hasbro's response to my request to order additional sketch pads below:

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2011I know the minimum age is 8 yo but I bought this game for our adult game night. It was rip roaring fun! We laughed so hard we were almost peeing our pants! Granted some of us were partaking in alcohol, but our games can get really silly.
This game is a visual version of the telephone game.
1. First you choose a card that has a bunch of phrases on it.
2. You figure out how to draw that phrase.
3. Hiding the title of the drawing you throw dice that tells you which way to pass the drawing.
4. The person who receives the drawing will interpret it by writing their own phrase.
5. They then pass it to another person that takes that interpretation and then draws it.
6. It goes on till the round ends.
The winner is the one voted best interpretation.
It can get really silly and raunchy so if you are playing with children you must be careful.
