Great design, expertly crafted

After my wife left me for a vegan, I took to drinking. This apparatus has taken my drinking to a whole new level! Previously, I used anything handy in the kitchen to measure ounces, which was often just old baby bottles as my wife took pretty much everything else when she left me for a vegan. The baby bottles worked out fine to be honest, but pouring out of them was tricky and often messy. This double jigger really has saved me time and effort, and my spicy margaritas have never tasted better! The rubber grip is a nice add, keeps it from slipping away...like my wife did.

It's sort of OK but be prepared for spillage. I bought this to replace my 30+ year old shot-measurer since it was showing signs of corrosion.

It's well made, nicely finished, attractively priced and the rubbery grip in the middle makes it impossible to drop. That said, I think Oxo focused too much on designing their measuring jigger to match their "X" logo, and less for usability. If filled anywhere near capacity, it spills with the slightest lateral movement. The shallow sloped sides are poorly designed to retain liquid. Keep paper towels handy.

I'm going to give myself a few more weeks to try and learn to adapt to its its awkwardness before setting it in the Goodwill pile.

I've included a picture of the Oxo along side with the one I was hoping to retire. The design difference is obvious. The old one works, the new one... not so much.

Time to go shopping again.

Update, 6-5-2018. Finally gave up on the spill-o-matic OXO and put it in the Goodwill box. Lesson learned. Bought a perfect replacement and have been using it for two weeks. Haven't spilled a drop. Our new recommendation: HIC Japanese-Style Double Cocktail Jigger. It's cheaper, it's on Prime, and it works.

I’m a fan of Oxo and usually willing to pay more for their quality and thoughtful design. This time I wish I hadn’t. One end of the jigger measures 1 1/2 ozs; the other 1,0 oz.
The problem is that you have to fill to the very top of the vessel which invites spills or inaccurate measurements. An inexpensive jigger with a 2 oz capacity is easier to use.

Very well made. Feels great in my hand. Measurements marked in 1/4 and 1/3 ounce steps. The measuring lines are inscribed into the steel. The smaller end is one ounce, generally considered an "American" shot. The other end is 1 & 1/2 ounces, elsewhere considered a "standard" measure... AND it looks cool, kind of futuristic. This is what Captain Kirk would have at his bar.

I had a bit of an issue with this jigger, but OXO did a lot of work to make me happy. I appreciate that, so full stars.

The issue I have is that there are milling marks inside the higher cup o each side. That’s a bit disappointing, especially from OXO.

They sent me a replacement, but same issue. I’m no expert, but withdrawing the bit while it’s still spinning should prevent this. It’s mainly cosmetic, but it is harder to clean, so you can’t let something like grenadine crust up on it and hope to easily clean it later. Just keep it clean and it should be ok.

Overall, it’s good, but could be great, while customer service is already great, so full stars.

No other jigger that I can find has all of the measurements that you need to make craft cocktails.

My only complaint is our bar has gone through 3 of these in less than a year because the top & bottom half eventually separate from the black rubber middle section.

If Oxo would weld the two pieces together it would be the perfect jigger.

I got this to replace a really cheap jigger that came with a cocktail shaker set that didn't even have any marks on it. This is a a really nice jigger. It's easy to read and see the measurements. I use it exclusively now. The only way I could see them improving it is making the 1.5oz side larger to be 2oz, but still keeping all the same lines. That would make 2oz pours easier because I'd be able to do it in one pour instead of having to do 2 1oz pours.

Good job OXO, if you make an improved version that goes up to 2oz i'll buy it.

On one hand, I love that this jigger has the measurements etched into the two sides, as well as two additional measuring lines, giving you 4 options. But something about this jigger always seems to spill more than my other one. I think it's more shallow (as opposed to narrower/deeper), so it tends to splash. Why not have a little pouring spout?
