One thing I must say about this hilarious comedy is it feels like something the late John Hughes might have made. Only without silly teens in high school. It didn't look like such an enjoyable film from the teaser-trailers--but boy, did I love this movie. Also...don't confuse this with the four or five others that share the same title. This is a 2008 offering and miraculously, there was no other film by the same title released that year or since then.

David Mitchell (a strangely effeminate Paul Campbell) is a raging 'player', an almost sexually incontinent ladies' man. With essentially little life outside his dad's (hilarious Clint Howard) car dealership, what has he got to lose chasing the babes? Except that David's Grandpa Joe (Andy Griffith) won't forgive him for taking the job and sticking grandpa in a super-fine condominium.

This is a lapse that makes no sense in the story...but David visits his Grandpa Joe, who is despondent and threatens suicide because he's a widower. David offers to teach Grandpa Joe "rules of the game". What ensues is hilarious, though thoughtful, comedy with David trying to get his grandfather a girlfriend. First at the bar, then in a preciously side-splitting scene at the gym. Meanwhile David is tackling his first true love with Julie (a charming Marla Sokoloff).

The tale has an incredible turn that I won't spoil--but it is so fun to see David and his grandfather gradually changing into one another, David absorbing his grandpa's wisdom and grandpa becoming a bit of a rake. The woman of grandpa's dreams, Rose (legendary Doris Roberts) happens to be Julie's granddaughter. What each man will learn here will astonish you, though portions of this happy and truly fun movie are predictable.

I just finished watching this movie with several seniors, and they (and I) loved it. The reality is that there is quite a bit of sexuality that goes on in retirement homes, but is not talked about. I think the movie is best enjoyed by adults (not something that most grandparents would want to watch with their grandkids!) but I did not find the movie offensive as did some others here -- and neither did the 70+ year old ladies I watched it with.

It's a romantic comedy, and ends with a humorous twist that sort of undermines the overall message of the movie, which I think is positive -- that we need do be seeking genuine companionship and not just game-playing.

As both a pastor and a filmmaker, I think we need to have family films but we also need stories that are for adults. When the only movies that we allow are acceptable for kindergarteners, we are leaving out a whole aspect of adult life -- and I think very few movies deal honestly in any way with the elderly and their emotional lives.

I was so excited to get this movie, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie! I have never seen Anj in this kind of role, and it was absolutely hilarious!!! I think you will enjoy this movie, even if you're not an Andy Griffith fan, but then I can't imagine anyone not being a fan. :)

I bought this for my residents in an Assisted Living Facility. They laughed so much watching this movie. I'm sure they will watch it again and again.

I ordered this because Andy Griffith is an favorite of mine and then to watch him in a movie where he is having sex in a retirement home and describing it in some detail during the movie is very disappointing. I hope he wasn't forced to take this type of role for the money in his later years. And to think he did Gospel music you'd think he would never take a role like this.

Even a "safe" movie like this appeared to be has to have a certain level of sex these days. I don't want to see Andy Griffith talking about his geriatric conquests in any movie. What is Hollywood coming to, or should I say how low can they continue to go.

I picked this movie because I heard it was a good movie for the whole family. the beginning of the movie was cute enough but the grandfathers sex scene (while no nudity was shown) and the grandfather talking about it afterward made us all feel very uncomfortable and some of the stings that he said I wish I could scrub form my memory because that is not the way I want to remember Andy Griffith.

Hysterically Funny! Andy Griffith is at his best in this comedy. Superb acting, a fun original story line that is vastly different from the typical romantic comedies. This plot has a lot of fun twists and turns. If you need to giggle your socks off while savoring the incredible talents of one of Hollywood's greatest actors, then you won't be disappointed. This is adult themes, so not sure I would watch it with little kids, you might have to answer some real embarrassing questions. This was such a hysterically funny movie, I imagine that I could easily watch it again, just for the giggles and fun!

This could have been a good movie, but alas, as in many other movies, they had to make the older generation act silly, not funny, just plain silly! It's embarrassing to watch. These actors are all good,so I don't understand why they are in such a lame script. Especially, Doris Roberts!
