Received damage product in damage box, but still usable.

Received damage product in damage box, but still usable.
My box came in taped up all over the place, yet it was still so damaged that the product was revealed. The box was absolutely damaged. I attached some images. The product also looked like it had been used before, when I specifically read and selected "new" when I ordered it. The bars that hold up the muslin back drop clearly showed damage. The bag that it came with was also damage. One of the poles punctured right through the bag, luckily I had an extra container that locks to keep it safe and stored away. The product is still usable but it is just unbelievable on what I received. I guess the price matched the product. I did produce some amazing pictures on the second night that I had it though.

This is a great price for a well-designed generous "starter kit" for anyone who wants to transform their shooting area into a professional space. The three backdrops, white, black, and greenscreen, are great for various filming situations. I use the setup constantly. Comes with some helpful lights with umbrella "diffusers," so important to getting a good lighting environment. However, I caution that they come with the "old-fashioned" lights that have dangerous gas inside if they break. Don't break 'em! :-) There are two down-sides to this setup: the large hanging bar that holds the backdrops does not collapse in the middle. Therefore, if you need to move it, you have to carry the whole setup across the room without breaking anything (takes two people) or deconstruct the whole setup back into separate metal bars before moving it, which would be highly inconvenient. I just move it where I need it with assistance from whoever I am working with at the time, but that one aspect of the frame is a pain in the neck. I would love to see a version of this that allows the middle bar to collapse down to a manageable size without breaking down the whole setup. The other problem is with the backdrops. They are soft material and tend to have wrinkles or whorls in the background design. You will need to stretch them out, fasten them tautly to the metal legs on the sides and use your lights skillfully to avoid having "patterns" in your shot. But it can be done with a little bit of experimentation and practice.

This is not top-of-the-line gear, but it is very functional, and in incredibly value for the price. This is a really fine starter photo-video kit, with every component easy to take apart, put in its cases, and transport.

The seamless backdrop comes with three color sheets. The fabric isn't very thick, but is suitable unless you have a light source like a window behind it. The stands are lightweight but sturdy. I've used them for tradeshows to hang other banners because they are so easy to carry and assemble.

Weakest point is probably the lighting. It's not really enough light, nor can the lights be aimed or focused enough, to provide lighting you need for video or good photography. But it's a good starter kit, and will be good added filler lighting.

Overall this is an Excellent value, the bars are light but do not bend or droop using two bars (about 8 feet across) I haven't tired 3 yet. The Muslins all have pockets to slide the top bar through so they will not fall or move ... no need juggling the fabric while attaching muslin clamps.

The umbrella light bulbs are gigantic (about 12 inches long) and throw a tremendous about of light. I'm using this kit's lights to light the muslins behind my model and then I use my main softboxes to light my subjects.

Set up is easy and although the bars feel a bit light, they do hold up well.

The backdrop extends up to 9 feet and the muslins are 12 feet long, well above anyone's height so shooting a full body shot, including their feet to the top of the head and beyond, is no problem.

My only real complaint, and this does make a HUGE difference for portability, is the carry bag does not hold the whole kit. For example, I already have a 3000 WATT Cowboy Studio softbox kit and hair light boom and everything fits in the large carry bag that came with that kit, blubs, lamps, softboxes, stands, boom, etc... everything fits so I can carry it all in one large bag.

However, with this kit, the bag really isn't a bag at all, it's a fold over flat case. Only some of the bars from the back drop fit into it's pockets along with the umbrellas. Forget the blubs and lights, the whole back drop doesn't even fit in the carry bag as there isn't any room for the stands. I'm not sure why the bag was even included, it doesn't even hold half of the kit. There's no where to put the large light bulbs or the stands or the muslins. I need to purchase a larger carry bag to have everything together.

For $130 you can't go wrong with this kit! 3 light stands, 2 umbrellas, 3 muslin backgrounds, the backdrop stands, a carrier case for the backdrop stands!!!! I looked at kits with far less for 3 times this amount before I stumbled across this kit. The only way to improve this is to have a case to carry the lights in and one to store the backdrops in. The backdrops do come all folded and they are difficult to iron all the wrinkles out. I thought I would put one in the dryer with a damp towel. NOT the way to go! This trick works great on shirts but not great on these huge sheets. Ironing worked ok but if you have access to a steamer that is probably the way to go. I have yet to figure out how to store these so that they don't have to be ironed/steamed every time I want to use them. I guess that if you have a permanent studio that is less of a problem. Since I have a portable studio, it is an issue for me. I am completely happy with the quality of everything I received so far. With my portable studio, I can set this up in about 10 minutes time, it is light to pack around, but sturdy enough to support the weight of all three backdrops and then some. I haven't had much experience with lights but I have to agree with several of the other reviewers when they said that the lights were not quite bright enough. I will probably be replacing the lightbulbs with something a little more powerful so that I can set them up a little further away from my clients. They work great if you are looking for a more surreal type of lighting but they are too harsh to use without the umbrella if you are looking for a brighter light. I managed to get the lighting I wanted but the umbrella was literally inches away from my clients face and barely out of the picture. Pretty small complaint considering what I paid and how much I got though. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to further their photography into a studio.
