I'm a professional photographer, I used to use mac as my working platform, but I moved to PC (custom build) for the best value.
I have a apple LED cinema display which cost me about $1000, and I love this monitor and want to keep using it.
Last year, there is no such product in the market, so if I build my own PC, I have to buy a new monitor, such like DELL Ultrasharp 30 or 27 inch, 800-1300 varies, and i have to sell my apple monitor since i dont use it anymore. Another solution is to buy the GTX X90 series, which will cost you about $800 only for the video card, since only top model from nvedia comes with mini display port.
This product is very simple, you just plug the mini display port cable (male) from your apple cinema display into the female part or this product, then plug the display port( male) to your video card( Display Port is the standard port that comes with many video card).
Works flawlessly, just like regular monitor, everything is perfect, I would buy this product even it will cost $100.
Yes, I would recommend this to my friends.

Solutions for Thunderbolt display users. This product wont't work for you, since thunderbolt cable integrated PCIE ( for data transfer) into the cable, the least expensive way to use the thunderbolt monitor and PC tower is to buy a motherboard that comewith thunderbolt port, which normallly cost $100+ for the same performance. Then you plug your display into your motherboard and then goes into BIOS settings and set the default video processor as INTEGRATED. Then google and buy the Virtu GPU software, this software allow discrete video card to calculate even you connect your display to mother card.

Thanks to this, I was able to get my Nvidia-GPUed PC to push a 2560x1440 successfully to a 2012-era Apple Cinema Display. So the product itself is great. But if you're using it for this application, note that thanks to Apple's buttonless design aesthetic genius, you lose your brightness control. The monitor will default to 50% brightness, and there's no especially easy way to work around that, because this DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter doesn't share all the Thunderbolt functions.

Tried using a Mac USB keyboard to adjust brightness. Tried installing BootCamp on a true Windows 8.1 installation. Nothing successfully boosted the brightness. Best I could do was turning up the brightness in Nvidia control panels -- but that just boosts the signal rather than turning up the backlight on the Cinema Display.

Used to connect a PC with a display port to a Apple 27" Cinema Dispaly which has a male mini-display port cable. This adapter worked perfectly. No complaints.

A must have if you own a Apple Cinema Display or a thunderbolt display and you want to use Nvidia GPU's on your Classic Mac Pro's, I have this cable hook up to my new 1080 GTX and it works perfect and will display full res of 2560x1440

Converted a DP on my Graphics Card to a MiniDP on a Apple 27" Cinema Display. Worked exactly as expected.
IMPORTANT: This will not work for modern apple "Thunderbolt" displays. Only on legacy Apple "Mini Displayport" displays.

Works exactly as expected. I use an Apple 27inch Cinema Display on my PC (yes, my PC) that only has a MiniDP cable as your option for connecting to a machine. I just bought a new graphics card that only has "regular" display port, HDMI and DVI ports on it so I needed the adapter to have female MiniDP on one end and male normal Display Port on the other. No problems yet.

Bought this adapter over a year ago and could not get my Apple Cinema Screen to work with my HP 8440p laptop until today. I was plugging the adapter directly into the DP port in the back of the 8440p and could not find any success whatsoever. After a few months of messing around with it I finally gave up. Today, I decided to give it another shot and again it failed when I plugged the adapter directly into the DP port on the back of the laptop. Then I remembered that my company issued me an HP docking station that I threw in the back of my closet somewhere so I pulled it out and decided to test it with the adapter plugged into the docking station and not the laptop. As soon as I docked my laptop and fired it up, the Apple Cinema Screen lit up and showed my desktop. After adjusting the on screen resolution to 1900 x 1200 and the dual monitor setting to 'Extend Desktop', I'm now working off dual monitors. Great product and might I add pretty cheap!

I hope this helps anyone else who has a docking station. :)

Was going nuts trying to find an adapter to connect an Apple 27" Cinema Display to my PC. This little guy does the trick. There were other switcher options for $200+ but doesn't show the bios screen. This guy gets the display going right away. Awesome item.
