I got one and it seemed great at first, so I got another one. The lid cracked on one, but I hoped it was a fluke and bought a third. Now I have 0, because I threw them away and switched to Nalgene brand bottles. For a while I transferred the wire ball to the new bottle. But then I accidentally forgot to put the ball in while mixing a shake and it came out exactly the same as with the wire ball. Curious, I tried different mixtures both with and without the ball and there may have been a minuscule improvement with the ball, but not enough to have to clean it and listen to it rattling around.

Aside from the fact that the ball is mostly a gimmick and adds almost no value, the real reason I quit on these things is they make it with crappy plastic. They make it with #5 plastic. This plastic absorbs and retains odors very easily. You have to clean these things IMMEDIATELY after using them. If you leave remnants in there for more than 30 minutes, it will forever smell like whatever it was. This was ultimately what made me throw them away. Eventually, I had one that smelled like watermelon and one that smelled like death, and those smells could not be washed out no matter what. Soap or bleach would temporarily mask the smell, but then it would come back. I switched to the Nalgene bottles that use #7 plastic. They don't absorb odors like these things do, and they hold more content.

EDIT: So I have learned that #7 is a catch-all category for any plastic that's not #1-#6, so a bottle with #7 on it is not necessarily good. The Nalgene bottles are BPA free, however, which is the primary concern of people who say to avoid #7 (and it doesn't stink).

Yes. Yes it will. Be it whey, casein, etc... It will blend it.

Plus, you burn an extra 2 calories just shaking the thing! =D

I am an avid drinker of breakfast smoothies, as I am usually rushing out the door first thing in the morning. These blender bottles make them so much easier to mix and transport. They're very sturdy and don't hold smell or warp in my dishwasher as other mixing bottles have (despite our best efforts, my dishwasher seems determined to run at a bazillion degrees and has claimed many a plastic container). They also don't leak at all, which is awesome. I normally store them on their side in my lunch bag, so not having a mess is great.

I normally use Plant Fusion vegan smoothie mixes (Chocolate raspberry is currently my favorite), a cup or so of frozen fruit, a handful of spinach and some water. I blend it all, and then dump it in - usually since I make my smoothies the night before, there is some separation when I grab them out of the fridge in the morning, but the container mixes it right back up for me.

I'd definitely recommend these Blender Bottles to anyone. I've even used them in the past to mix up scrambled eggs, pancake batter, and more. They're indespensible, and I have to keep ordering more as folks steal them from me because they're so neat!

Be careful not to let your bottle accidently sit for too long in a hot car. Second purchase of two bottles were better: easy to clean and no mess when shaking. First bottle leaked while shaking. Hopefully this issue has been resolved.

My only complaint about this bottle is that it seems that I can't go anywhere (read: ANYWHERE) without seeing someone with one. People at work, at the gym, at the library, all seem to have found the great price on this bottle from Amazon, and I see it everywhere.

More than once I have had to stop someone from walking out of the bathroom with my bottle because they mistook it for theirs of the exact same color which they happened to forget they hadn't brought to the bathroom with them.

But it's several months along and I'm quite happy with it - still a perfect seal and no leaks, etc.

I would recommend that if you're just drinking water from it, or using it for long stretches without emptying/cleaning that you remove the wire ball and secure it somewhere until you actually need to use it.

I have 4 of these bottles between the two sizes and I love them. They do a great job of mixing - even the harder-to-mix proteins. The only complaint I have would be that the lids don't seem to hold up well in the dishwasher. The cap is hard to snap down after being on the top rack.
