Size: 250 GPH
I have two of these pumps. Solid. Quiet. Pumps EXACTLY how much they say they are to pump, people need to do their research.

People who claim to not get the "250 gallons per hour", did either no research or can't read the chart on the side of the box. The Head height (or height above the pump to which the water is being pumped) restricts how much water can be pumped, because of gravity pulling back on the water column... plain and simple. The chart, which can be Googled, or even found on their website, shows exactly what the flow rate is for each "foot" of head height.

I plan to purchase more of these pumps for more projects.

I normally don't bother with reviews but i thought I better for this pump. I have put this pump through hell. Removed the foam filter completely and just let her buck in a pond for the last year. I had it inside a home made filter which was basically just a bucket full off dish scrubbies. The bucket would clog and starve the pump for water till my water fall was a piss trickle for days. Cleaned and it was 100% again. Now i just toss it in the pond without the bucket and pull the crap fron the grate once in awhile. I left for a few days and the intake got so packed with sludge that the pump was getting zero water. It blew the ground pin out of my extension cord and tripped the breaker. I pulled the sludge out and swished it around in the pond and she fired right up full flow and hasnt quit yet. Did i mention the pond is directly under a tree and has two geese and two ducks that live and s*** in it all day. The pump is a beast.

This pump is just awesome. It's actually overkill for my current aquaponics system, but it allows for some growth capacity. For those purchasing for an aquaponics system be advised that the outlet is designed for flexible tubing, however,it was easily adapted to 1" PVC pipe.
Recommend removing the internal filter. At this high flow rate the sponge gets clogged too quickly.

I have a bamboo fountain that needs 2 feet of lift and a fairly good stream of water. To see which one would work better, I bought these pumps at the same time:
Hydrofarm AAPW160 (the pump on this page),
EcoPlus Submersible Pump - 66 gph,
EcoPlus Submersible Pump - 132 gph - 9W and
PonicsPump PP120, 120 GPH.

When this Hydrofarm AAPW160 pump arrived, the pump did not look anything like the pump you see pictured above... it appears much CHEAPER plus I really don't like to be shown one thing and sold another. But that is not the worst of it.

After hooking it up to the fountain, it worked well enough. I checked the wattage with a P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor I recently bought and the wattage checked out to be 9.5 watts just as the specs stated. However...

Next I hooked up the PonicsPump PP120, supposedly a smaller pump... but low and behold, this PonicsPump put out more water with 37% less electricity!!! Again, I checked the wattage with my "Kill A Watt" meter and it checked out to be 6 watts just as they stated.

The 40-GPH pump is Tiny! I could not anticipate the size from other reviews or the information in the description since they include larger models of similar pumps. The documentation that came with it says it will pump 40 at no lift, and drops to zero GPH at a 2 foot lift. Might be fine for a table top fountain? No good for my small outdoor pond spitter. Check the specs in the pics. That's a quarter on top of the pump.

Very disappointed, the pump works but not as expected.

I have a Massarelli 55" Tranquillity Sphere Spill Fountain which the pump needed to be replaced. I purchased this pump with the same specifications only to learn the hard way, just because the specifications are the same doesn't mean it will work the same.
This pump does not have the vertical lift the Massarelli model 40400 MAG drive 400 GPH pump does.

Dismantling a 400lbs fountain, installing the pump, filling the bowls only to find the pump didn't do the job was a huge let down. It took four guys to take the fountain completely apart and reassemble. Dismantling a 2nd time to remove the pump is not a joy - spend the money people, cheap imitations are there for a reason.

I ordered 2 of these to upgrade some small waterfalls. I tried them both in the first waterfall that had a very old 365gph pump from Lowe's. Neither one did even 1/3 of what the 365gph did. The pond is only 150 gallons with total lift to the top of the waterfall of less than 3 feet. I bought it because of all the good reviews but I guess maybe the reviewers had nothing to compare it to like I did. This pump is also not adjustable as I saw in one review. There is not enough impeller in this pump to do what they advertise even at the 3K RPM spec. Amazon is picking them up and are the best as they always are. I'll try the 1000gph next and see what it does.
