I love this shiny one because the retina screen looks amazing (you can't tell there's a screen protector at all)...but there is a lot of glare (which is to be expected). Strangely there is a visible dot pattern in the protector that you can see when light is shining on the screen (basically small dots in a grid throughout the entire screen - dots are maybe 3/16" apart)...not crazy about that but it's not visible all the time & despite the dots, the screen clarity is remarkable. All-in-all they are both the best protectors I've ever used. Both protectors are flexible, durable & very easy to install. The touch feeling of the screen is unchanged with these protectors. NOT too good to be true

I have an iPhone and have dealt with the dreaded "bubble" issue many times in trying to apply a screen protector. I purchased this somewhat reluctantly because I couldn't understand how it could work without sacrificing screen touch-sensitivity...but I'm here to tell you the unanimously positive reviews are accurate. I am very happy with this thing. Application is as simple as can be. Even if you were to get a bubble under the adhesive portion of the protector (which is ONLY located AROUND the screen...on the black portion of your iPad), you wouldn't see it because it too is black. And even though technically the is a ultra-thin gap between the protector and the actual screen, there is (as far as I can tell) no loss of responsiveness on the screen. Shocking, I know...but it's true. The only minor downsides (which were not even significant enough for me to lower my rating from 5 stars) are:

1. there is a SLIGHT decrease in brightness of the screen...which can easily be resolved by turning up the brightness in settings. This will obviously shorted battery life a bit, but I can live with it.
2. once applied, the protective screen IS a bit tacky...but what i have found is with some use and actually getting some oils from my fingers in the screen, it gets a lot smoother...and this does NOT make the screen look dirty because it is a matte/glare free finish. So if you notice this out of the box, it won't be a problem for long..

At the end of the day, in theory I would prefer a screen protector the does adhere to the screen all over, but i know from past experience (working on an iPhone surface which is 1/6 the size of an iPad) that it is a virtuall certainty that I will trash MANY of them in trying to get it perfect...and this is a great solution. I am very pleased with this thing and pleasantly surprised and how it performs. Hope that helps...I don't usually write reviews but I thought this product warranted one.

very awesome protector

Got this for my first gen ipad. The install took a couple of minutes. Basically, make sure you have no dust on the screen. You can use the included microfiber cloth to remove it. In my case, I applied the screen protector to my ipad as soon as I pulled it out of the box. I ended up getting a couple of specks of dust under the black portion of the protector. They stuck to the sticky part underneath. This did leave a couple of bumps on the black portion, but within a day they were not noticeable. It took me 2 tries to get the protector to line up with the home button and edges. The protector will lift up if put a fingernail underneath. Most people that use my ipad don't realize that I have a screen protector on it.

The feel of the protector is plastic, but not a bad feel. I prefer it, because I found that the glass of the screen can make your finger drag sometimes. It's hard to describe the screen feel, almost like plastic with baby powder on top, very smooth. It does add a small bit more noise when swiping and tapping. I have not noticed any loss of accuracy in tracking of my fingers. It does cut down on glare a bit. Sometimes I can notice a very small amount of distortion, but its only if you focus on it.

I'm not so sure about washing the protector, likely I will never remove it. awesome protector, a little pricey, but worth it
