Was looking for a cheaper alternative to store-brand Kindle covers that usually sell for anywhere from $35 to $50. This fits snuggly and isn't bad or cheap looking at all. The added screen protector is a great touch and the microfiber cloth is great for wiping off any dust particles. All this and the wrist band for this price is a steal. I highly recommend this to anyone in need of a Kindle case.
While most of the attributes on this cover are pretty good for the price, there is one major (for me) problem. I installed my once white Kindle in the cover as soon as I received it. After almost 2 months in the cover I had occasion to remove it. On the area that was under the lower 2 straps to hold it in, there is dye transfer which is a purplish color. I have unsuccessfully tried to remove it with a gentle cleaner. I wrote to Crazy on Digital through Amazon asking for a solution - no response. I called them - no response (I don't think they return phone calls. I have had probems with their products before, with a very slow response. I have come to the conclusion that their products are very cheaply made and you get what you pay for. DON'T BUY THIS FOR A WHITE KINDLE3 if you want to keep it completely white. I think I will order one from Case Crown. I had a pink one for white Kindle2 and there was no dye transfer.
I bought a Kindle before I embarked on a year-long backpacking trip through Africa, India, and Southeast Asia to save weight and to have an endless supply of books to read in hard-to-find-good-books places. After extensive research, I bought this cheap, simple case to protect it. One year, 30,000 miles, and 17 countries later, my Kindle is still in perfect shape. No scratches. No dents. No cracks. Here is why I love this case:
1) It is lightweight and thin, so it can slip into a small space in a backpack or bag.
2) It closes with a magnet, so it can handle a little bit of jostling without opening, so your Kindle screen remains safe.
3) The magnetic strap affixed to the right side of the case can get in the way of your reading, but holding it back with your hand or magnetizing it to a folded back cover is easy enough. I generally hold the Kindle with my right hand along the right side, slipping the strap along either side of my middle finger, depending on what's comfortable. That way I can hit the page buttons with my thumb and hold the flap and cover back with my fingers, leaving my left hand free.
4) The cover DOES fold back flat against the back of the Kindle, so you can hold the Kindle open and feel like you're holding the width of an 80-page book.
5) The two corner straps and two corner slip pockets that hold your Kindle in place are strong, durable, and don't get in the way of the buttons.
6) The cover is soft and spreads pressure around, so unless you stab it with a sharp object or sit down hard on it, your screen will be safe. I have accidentally exposed a closed case to pressure that I feared would crack the screen (pressure from other objects in my bag against the front cover, as well as accidentally sitting on it), but in every case, the screen has been ok. (For the record, I'm 6'2" / 160, so not the heaviest, but my girlfriend says I have a sharp, bony butt. Take that as you will. Regardless, putting 160 pounds of pressure on a screen is not something you want to do with regularity. Thankfully, this case passed the test.)
7) There is a small pocket on the inside front cover that is perfect for holding a boarding pass or a few other pieces of paper. It's not thick enough for a passport, but can hold a few important documents if you want to keep things together.
8) After all that traveling and abuse, the cover is still in great shape! It still sits on my Kindle now that I'm back home, and protects it in my bike bag as I bike to work and school every day. It's a nice black color without any signs of fading and only minimal amounts of normal wear.
I would buy another one in a heartbeat, but it looks like this one will last a lifetime.
I ordered this Kindle 3 cover because it's stylish and affordable. I'm sorry, but it's ridiculous what Amazon is charging - and getting - for their covers. I mean..they are just leather covers with a light on them. There was no way i was paying that with other options.
That said, i was on the hunt for a better case. This one was hard to tell exactly what kind of quality i would be getting from the pictures, but i've been very happy with this purchase. It does have kind of a cheaper feel to is..but it IS cheaper..so you kind of get what you pay for. I'm perfectly fine with it not feeling high end. I think it still looks like better quality, and it works great for a case.
I certainly wouldn't want to be rough with it, like giving it to young kids, but it'll work just fine for adults who aren't going to tearing that flap open or running around with it.
I think the straps inside hold everything nice and snug, and i'm glad we have the faux leather at the bottom and the elastic straps at the top that easily pop off when it's time to pull it out. It just makes the whole Kindle feel a lot more durable. Without a case, the Kindle feels pretty fragile.
I'm not sure there's a better value for the case. I'm enjoying mine and i definitely recommend it. The company sends it out pretty quickly too, which i was happy about.
it's nice looking, but it's not REAL leather, which was very disapointing. also, the screen protector doesn't work. however, it is very affordable. so it comes down to whether you want great quality or a great price
