Although the graphic has nothing compares to BattleField's Frostbite BUT... compares with traditional flight simulator game ... this is much better in term of control and fun. It also adds a fun functionality - Dog Fight (DF mode).

The story line is not that bad. You can't expect a good story in a flight simulator game.

I believe that they will improve the graphic on the next release and as well as the level design.

I haven't played the multiplayer mode but I saw from youtube. It's more fun and can't wait to finish story mode. :)

First, I need to state I am new to the series. It seems as though, from what I've read, this version is more arcadey than previous ones. It is not a simulator. I've always wanted an X-wing vs. Tie fighter game for the PS3. Until then, if ever, I will play these types of flying games. I really like the locales. Having been to and lived in most I can attest to their scale. The DFM mode is okay. I can see how seasoned vets would be turned off by it. I think there should be options of using it or not. I can understand why it is there; For a younger and newer generation it makes sense to have an option. Otherwise, the learning curve would be too much particularly for online play. However, it shouldn't be, as it is as times, mandatory in the campaign. Plus, it should be optional in online gameplay (perhaps it is and I just haven't found it?). It has a nice selection of planes, I even like the Helicopoter missions actually; I thought it was a good change of pace.

Where I think it lacks actually is the online experience, Domination is a ridiculous idea. I think the HQ is pretty good, and TDm is alright. But, I think they could have done better. Instead of Mission Co-op they should have more mission-based online games, like protect the bomber, the Zeppelin, something. Perhaps they will have this as DLC? I dunno. But, while I thought the campaign was mostly fun, and sometimes annoyying, and at times as expected repetitive, yet challenging, I was hoping the online experience would keep me into the game. The limited online experience makes me question that. If I had to blow up a fleet or something it would be more enjoyebale with fighters on my tail, for example. I think this could have been a five star game with just a few tweaks; for instance, optional DFM (great idea for beginners), and more mission-based online experience(s). I'm hoping they will incorporate both with DLC. If they did the latter it would be a great game.

Oh!! and I am glad I didn't buy a flight stick to go with it! I almsot did just that. Talk about a potential buyers remorse.

Alright, so normally I don't do reviews for games but I thought I'd give it a shot. I also thought I'd throw in my two cents considering that I've heard some negative things about the game, it even received a 5.5 out of 10 on Gamespot!

I think many people including myself found the demo mission to be boring. However, in about the 3rd fighter mission things really kick-up a few notches. The game gets much more challenging, in the demo mission, it was pretty straightforward, enter Dogfight Mode (DFM) shoot down planes, rinse and repeat.

Missons other than the first involve much more tense dogfights that requires making split second decisions. For example, do you stay in DFM and take out that flight lead or disengage and evade the missiles that his allies fired at you. Yes, DFM does make it go on rails a little bit but not totally. I've actually crashed in DFM once, and you still have some control over your plane. I haven't played any more helicopter missions and so can't say if that changes any but I didn't have a problem with them anyways.

All in all, I'm saying if you're someone who tried the demo and hated the fighter mission, I encourage you to at least rent the game. The fighter combat gets better and the campaign has done a nice job of varying the missions up so it doesn't get stale. Throw in a sold online component and it's not a bad buy, especially at the $45 price that amazon had on earlier, I knew I was having a good time when by the third mission I was gritting my teeth and moving my controller left and right trying to doge incoming missiles!
