This grinder is amazing. Seems this is a new model with the top as a slightly twisted rectangular protrusion. I've tried Javapresse (cheap version of old Porlex with a hex protrusion) and the Handground grinder (looks cool, but not well refined as a product) as well as the Bodum Bistro electric burr grinder. I mainly use this to brew single cups.

This Porlex comes out on top as it's the easiest/smoothest to turn and the fastest to grind 20g in about 30 seconds (compared with ~1 minute for the other manual grinders I've tried). Very consistent grinds as well in my opinion. The build quality is also excellent and feels great in my hands every morning. The grind capacity is also about just over 20g which is perfect for me (makes measurement pretty easy even if I don't have a scale), but might be a problem for larger batches.

Both the inner and outer burrs pop out so it's super easy to clean. This is really helpful because I really hate the taste noises caused by old grinds so I always clean my grinder between coffee batches. I also prefer manual grinders because electric grinders make cleaning a bit more complicated (you'd need to either buy coffee cleaners or take it apart).

In summary, this is a super high quality grinder in a very small and minimalistic package that serves all my needs perfectly, making it a super elegant product.

Espresso grinding by hand

Let me start with the one bad point. The directions were completely in...Japanese? Korean? Vietnamese? I immediately threw out the instructions since, for someone who only speaks European languages, they were useless. However, this is a very simple, straight forward device. There is a knob inside below the mill to adjust your grind. I bought this to grind whole coffee beans down to an espresso grind. It works. It works well. It takes about 3 minutes to grind out enough to make a double shot of espresso. It's faster, if you are out to have a course(r) grind. It's small and tucks away easily. It's even small enough to pack for a trip, if you have a Handpresso, or other portable coffee/espresso maker.

For jeep trips when I need to have fresh ground coffee, this does the trick. I like the routine of grinding the beans: 110-120 turns of the grinder is part of the waking up process preceding good coffee! It does fit inside the Aeropress plunger but be aware that with temperature the bottom part can get stuck in the aeropress. If that happens, just warm up the aeropress and it will then slide out nicely.

Everyone I know uses the clear plastic Hario grinders, but I've seen two of them break. I saw this one and took a chance, and I'm happy with it. I don't adjust the setting, I always just use it for french press, so I can't speak to how long it stays accurately set. I like it because its almost all stainless steel, and has a ceramic bur. It packs down small thanks to the removable handle, and I appreciate that the designers added a little loop to hold the handle on the side once its ben removed.

Portable with a easy grind setting.

The perfect grinder for a single cup of coffee. Very easy to disassemble for cleaning. The grind setting is done with a knob and it is very easy to set whatever grind you want and to get the same setting after you have reassembled it after cleaning. I bought this grinder for traveling and camping but I now use it, and my Aeropress every day at work.

I don't like hotel coffee, or room service coffee. This hand grinder is burr type- is consistent in its ability to grind beans to your preference - and is COMPACT. Worth every penny

Several weeks and about 200 cups of coffee later I'm still enjoying this coffee grinder. I originally purchased it for a camping trip and it has not disappointed. My previous choice was the Hario Coffee Mill Slim Grinder, Mini and I have no complaints about how that one performed. In fact if you're on a budget thats the way to go. Sadly mine finally broke because it was packed poorly with some much tougher items after a camping trip a few months ago. The sweltering heat might have had something to do with it. I dunno. But back to this unit. There are a few things you should know. It is very small. Very Very small. For me that is a plus. It does however result in a decent amount of work to get your coffee ground. I don't have a problem with it personally but just know its not the easiest grinder in the world. The other issue is that if you're not torquing it just right the handle can come out or if you're not paying attention. Not a huge issue and still I'm a fan for portable coffee grinding this simply can't be beat.
