Did a bit of research and seems that this is a common issue on a lot of vehicles. I did my due diligence and
cross referenced the part. For those changing on Chevy Express w 7.4l it's not too bad to get to (will note below.)
You should buy yourself a oil pressure switch socket. I picked mine up locally for ~$10. Part was very easy to remove.
I noted that my original/installed part had 2 of the 3 pins removed with a little dab of rubber to keep those pins from shorting out. Initially, I thought, maybe I shouldn't remove the pins on the new part, because there is a single pin version sold at a national auto parts store. It was a Sunday and I thought to heck with it and removed the same pins and installed. IT WORKED!! Oil pressure gauge was ready correctly again. Alright!!!
For those who own an early 2000's Chevy Express with the 454 once you remove the engine cover inside the cabin it is right there. You can't miss it.
This sensor is in the same spot on my 2004 silveardo (different part number of course), so I had experience replacing it.
Great price, real ACDELCO.
Anyway fit size, etc exact for my 1997 Silverado, 5.7 engine

I tend to trust OEM Parts. I tested the old part and compared to this new one. There was/is a remarkable smoother operation and I'm happy with the new sensor. If you find that your gauge tends to fluctuate, stick or be jittery, I suggest that you replace your sensor!
