IPad fits easily into the Iklip. Iklip fits well and without problems onto the microphone stand. Easy to adjust angle for viewing page. The only thing besides being overpriced and made from cheap plastic is that you can't rotate the device from portrait to landscape or landscape to portrait without removing your IPad from the Iklip and removing a screw take it apart rotate it and then put the screw back in, and your iPad back on the Iklip. I made a little device that allows a quick one hand flip for what ever direction you want to view? Maybe I will patent it and overprice it.
The main problem is that the adapters for the iPad 2 are EXTREMELY difficult to snap into place. For most people it would be impossible to push the adapter into position by hand. I had to use the edge of my shoe and pull up. It finally works, but it is a very poor design. Also, you would think that an iPad holder would be able to swivel and lock easily for portrait or landscape. No, you have to take out a screw with a Philips head screwdriver and move the orientation, then screw it down again (which is also incredibly tight and difficult.) This function ought to be done in seconds, not minutes. This unit should be a LOT more flexible and easy to use. Don't buy this one. Look for other options.
Well, at 30+ dollars, it isn't cheap. It's made out of plastic so it can't travel while attached to the stand for fear of breaking. I use the IPad2 and it is 7 1/4 across yet this holder is 7 1/2 so it doesn't hold the IPad2 tight. It doesn't go from Landscape to Portrait without a complete disassemble and reassemble. I expected a little more for my money. I would not recommend this model. I would recommend TabKeeper2 as the app for guitarists/singers. There has to be a better holder than this out there for the money. If anyone has a different model that they are thrilled with, let me know.
I bought this to use my iPad as a notes prompter for my band. I gigged with it for the first time last night. Just having the iPad on stage with me by my mic using Keynote to page through my song notes was FANTASTIC. This iKlip stand allowed that to happen. So I'm very glad I got it.
BUT
I expected it to be so much better. Here's why:
- I wanted to mount it on the upright part of a boom mic stand. But the iKlip's collar only allows for a fairly narrow range of stand diameters. This is a big deal since this limitation makes this product useless on any post greater than about 1/2" thick
- It is made of thin hard plastic. I am very hesitant to throw this stand in with all my other metal gig-worthy hardware during transport for fear of breaking it. Sooner or later I expect I'll snap off one of the arms
- Whoever designed it to require a complete disassembly with screwdriver just to change it from landscape to portrait should be slapped.
- The mount isn't far enough away from the post to allow for enough freedom of tilting
iKlip arrived quickly and was out of the box and on my mic stand in minutes. The iPad (1st gen, without case) slides in smoothly and fits snugly, so I have no concern about iKlip damaging my prized digital possession. The unit is made of a sturdy plastic blend, seemingly built to last. iKlip attached to a stand with a solid base and a boom for my mic combine to make a comfortable, stable, easily viewed and easily adjusted combo with arm's-length access to my teleprompter (teleprompt+ available in the Apple App Store). I do wish the arms were adjustable so a thin case could be used, and I've discovered a product which appears to do just that - for three times the price. iKlip does what it claims to do and does it well, without breaking the bank. I do recommend.
I absolutely love this kip and use everyday, so well made, sturdy and strong, it will last for years and had had done so to date, I can highly recommend , great company to deal with.
