This tape seems to be much thicker and the extra thickness seems to be for the insulation layer of the tape. As far as the adhesive goes it seems to be adhering well but some of the edges have needed to be pressed back down. The other thinner tape I used in the past has the same issue. If you're creative, you can screw/rivet (with washer) one end, and zip tie or attach in other manners to other areas (be mindful of heat exposure to any plastic fasteners)... To be fair, I contacted the company, and for a free standing divider, Inferno Shield is the proper product for my needs.. but at twice the cost for half the size... um... No Thank You! If you're creative enough, you can create heat partitions between vital components for a.... um.... "reasonable" cost?... I haven't ran the vehicle enough yet to speak to performance, but I can say that they aren't kidding when they say heavy duty foil outside... We're not talking space age mylar kind of foil here... We're talking off the grocery store shelf Reynolds Wrap heavy duty.. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING!!!! it is fragile tin foil on the outside that rips very very VERY easily, exposing a fiberglass packing that is just waiting to drift every little fiber on to your exposed skin. Note, wiping down affected areas with acetone (nail polish remover) soothes the irritation with incredible effectiveness. Also, be forewarned, if you're not wrapping a component (remember, no contact with the actual heat source!), any exposed use of this stuff will look like you're trying to pickup channel 5 from a 1980's TV set... Oh its everything short of professional looking if you see this stuff... Everyone will know you wanted to spend the absolutely minimal amount of money to keep heat under control. So unless you have a REAL need for this (like a turbo is getting under hood temps so high, electronics, motors, plastics are loosing life).... A. Question how much you really need temp control, B. make sure that this product isn't a half bum solution. I did use two sheets of this to separate the ECU (PCM for my vehicle), Battery and TIPM (engine bay fuse/relay box). If it keeps these components from getting excessively hot by being on the same side as the Turbo... Then score.... The horrible looks of my sad installation will be vindicated. Else... I will need a thin sheet metal wall created that I can attach a stick on barrier to. I would only recommend metal strapping or screwing/riveting this product in your application... This heat shield tape reflects up to 90 percent of radiant heat away from wires, lines, cables, hoses, and more. It is an excellent way to insulate components without disassembly, or it may be used as a means to hold other thermal insulation in place. Thermaflect Tape is also excellent as a quick on the go solution to heat problems. The heat shield tape is a must have for your race track tool box. Durable cloth construction makes it longer lasting and more rugged than similar products. This reflective heat shield tape withstands 1100F continuous radiant heat (requires minimum of 1 inch of airspace) and 500F of direct contact. Poor Quality adhesive

Although this product does a good job of shielding heat, I gave is 3 stars because the adhesive on this tape is of very poor quality. It just will not stay stuck to what you put it on. I used this on my motorcycle fairings and on the intake of my car. I prepped both surfaces correctly using de-greaser and alcohol. When I applied this tape within minutes it began to un-stick. I thought it may have been the surface I was putting it on (abs plastic) so I tried it on metal with the same results. I ended up having to use aluminum tape over it to keep it attached. I ordered 2 rolls and both roll have the same issue. I would not recommend buying this product if you are looking for something that be long term.

It was a pain to wrap this on the cat ...

It was a pain to wrap this on the cat on my ford explorer but i can blame that on ford. It has worked well reducing hear output and lasted so far through daily usage. I do have a rainy season coming up here in FL and will report back with any issues if there are failures.

Don't bother with this!!!

Used this on the underside of my ATV plastics to deflect heat away from them and it was a pain to get the backing off. The sticky layer wanted to peel off with it. The tape is peeling off in many places now also after only a few rides. I only give it a '2' because it DOES reflect the heat. I would keep looking, there HAS to be something out there that works better!!
It has been a bit longer now and more and more of this stuff is separating from the backing. What a farce and complete rip-off. There is no real warranty on it either so I just threw 3 hours and $34 down the drain. DO NOT waste your time with this product!! Don't be like me and think "Yeah, but they HAD to have fixed that issue." This stuff is junk plain and simple. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!!

Fell apart after the first 30 minutes of use

I bought this to line a stainless steel enclosure. The adhesive sticks well, but after the first 30 minutes of use, the fiberglass/aluminum backing fell from the tape, causing the tape to be exposed to the heat, melting, and subsequently smoking because of the exposure to the heat.

The specs say continuous operating temperature of 1100 degrees, but it can't even handle 400 F without falling apart.

Don't get suckered and buy this if you're going to use it in any environment that's 400 F or more - it's a waste of money as you will end up buying again.

This tape reflects heat as advertised, but it is hardly sticky at all. Once applied I had to add a layer of high heat electrical tape over the top to keep it in place. If the electrical tape melts then I am back to square one, as this tape will NOT stay in place on its own.

I would not buy this again and instead would find something with some real adhesive on the back side.

As a number of people said, it don't stick for long, however trying to stick it on the thing that actually gets hot is a no no.
It should only be applied to a use facing away from the heat to something that you don't want to get hot.
I wrapped and zip tied for a longer application and have had no issue.
