Not sure exactly what I was expecting when I started watching this series, but it definitely exceeded everything I thought. Poignant & slightly dark, it captures the emotions of a 90's teenager to a tee. The things that happened then are the same things that happen now, and with a stellar soundtrack it definitely gives the show some justice.

A set piece for high school life in the early 90s. My sister lived this and she said it's exactly like her life was at the time. It's also well written and acted. Of course, it was cancelled immediately.

Who can do teen angst more perfectly than Claire Danes as Angela. I couldn't stop looking at her face and trying to be inside her head to feel all that she was feeling. And I did. I think I lived vicariously through her, trying to ditch the old friend who no long understands me, nor I her, trying to present insecurity as a lack of concern. And most of all, imagining life without my parents and sister and with Jared Leto as Jordan Catalano, who made her/my heart pound in my chest, as if trying to run towards the object of its affection...this was the teen experience for the rest of us...the outcasts and the artists, the smart, but lazy kids who just wanted to be and be and love and love and love. Nothing more.

My So-Called Life dealt with major social issues of the early 1990s, including child abuse, homophobia, teenage alcoholism, homelessness, adultery, school violence, censorship, and drug use. Many shows at the time used these themes as a one-time issue (a "very special episode") that was introduced as a problem at the beginning of an episode and resolved at the end, but on My So-Called Life these issues were part of the continuing storyline. The title of the show alludes to the perception of meaninglessness that many teenagers experience and encapsulates the main theme of the series. The show depicts the teenage years as being difficult and confusing rather than a light, fun-filled time. Features Claire Danes (Homeland) and Jared Leto (Fight Club)

I loved this show when it originally aired on ABC and was so upset when it was canceled after only one season. It was, for me, the best show I've ever seen on TV. It's for all ages and deals with all sorts of topics. It's at times serious but there are also plenty of funny and lighthearted moments. What's amazing is all these years later I still love the show just as much and the topics are still as relevant today as they were then. I am overjoyed that I can finally watch it again whenever I want!

This is just such a great show and I missed it when it aired on ABC back in the mid-1990's. It's the high school version of "Felicity" with the ever-present angst and sexual frustrations. That being said, this is also a show about more in-depth topics. Alcohol and drug abuse, promiscuous sex, marital difficulties...this show has it all. I've sat through a marathon of these episodes and have re-watched a couple more. The only thing I can think of to complain about is that the show didn't continue. I would have liked to see what these wonderful characters got themselves into and out of as they progressed through high school.

I watched and LOVED this myself when it was first broadcast in the 90's and recently turned my teenage daughter on to the series. She counts it as one of her favorites ever, just like me! It still makes me sad that it only lasted one season.

I used to watch this show when I was 14 and loved it! I remember relating so well to Angela (Claire Daines), it it definately brings back memories of my teenage years and all of the drama of high school and my first love. I have searched Netflix in the past hoping that I could stream this show, but the only streaming service that has the show is Amazon Prime- I'm so happy to finally watch it again! The only bad thing is that it doesn't appear to have the option to stream this from my phone to TV-I have to watch it on my phone & I think that's kinda crappy since I've paid 20.00 for the 1st (and only) season. Other than that, I'm very happy that I can watch this show again.
