This blanket is like cuddling up in a basket of puppies under a ski coat. It's thin, but don't be fooled. It's WARM. And it's so, so soft.

I use this on top of a mediocre down comforter to deal with bitter New York cold. It washes like a dream. This is one of my favorite Amazon purchases.

Very warm, but you may want to consider 2 thinner blankets as well

This is the warmest blanket I have, which is impressive since it is not nearly the thickest one I own. It is pretty heavy and expensive though. I purchased my King size one for $62 and it is a great blanket. I actually prefer to use 2 lightweight fleece blankets though. That is cheaper (I purchased King size fleece blankets on Amazon for $25 each), it weighs less, & they air-dry pretty quickly. You might be able to air dry this blanket, but it would take a while. I prefer to put it in the dryer for a while, then take it out when it is almost dry, and then let it dry in the air. There is nothing wrong with this blanket, but you might want to consider looking at a couple thin fleece blankets instead.

Blanket of the Gods (If they would ever need one)

I bought this blanket for my girlfriend, and I gave her the chance to write a review. This is what she had to say.

This is my review:
I am glad I did not have to pay a lung for it, but now that I have gotten to touch this thing, I probably would have. Think of the softest thing you have ever come into contact with - that, whatever it is that popped into your head, is like the toilet paper you would find in a Port-A-Potty compared to this blanket. It is just insanely soft, I cannot stress that enough. Also, warm, very warm. Be smart and buy the full/queen size so you don't have trouble sharing it at night while you sleep.
I wanted to strangle my girlfriend when I heard she had put it in the washer - normal washer, normal detergent. I panicked thinking it would lose some of its softness. It did not. (Yet I would still recommend using a microfiber detergent just to make sure).

If you are thinking about this, don't. Just buy it... specially if it is a gift. Thank me later =)

This blanket is incredibly soft and quite warm for it's weight, but there are a couple drawbacks to the material it's made out of. First, it's kind of shiny. It's a matter of taste, but I think the material would look out of place in most bedrooms. Second, and more importantly, the material is very slippery. I find that I need to reposition the blanket multiple times throughout the night to prevent it from sliding off my bed. I suspect that part of the problem is that the full/queen size is really too large for a full sized bed.

I might try the "Albany" style of this blanket, though it looks like the material on the bottom of the blanket is the same. It should look nicer, but it would probably be just as slippery.

Update: I definitely prefer the Albany style. It's slightly thinner, cheaper, and most importantly, the underside isn't slippery at all. Unfortunately the top side is made of a very similar, shiny material.

Frakking sweet...

I'm in Afghanistan and we're in these stupid Alaska tents. The HVAC system isn't good at maintaining temperature since it never stops blowing air. So the air frequently get very cold in the tent at night. This blanket is all I need. It's extremely comfortable, very warm and the color looks better in person away from the white back drop. I would recommend or buy this blanket as a present for anyone who loves good fuzzy blankets.

This blanket is very warm and light weight. It washes nicely with no shrinkage. The size is very generous and covers my king side bed perfectly with a nice overhang. It is very soft and my dogs love it too! I would recomend this blanket especially for someone who doesn't like a heavy blanket but still wants the warmth.

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made on Amazon. This blanket is worth every penny. For the past month I've had no heat in my apartment. I had three blankets (throws, really) and a bedspread on my bed and I still froze every night (Denver + blizzards). I bit the bullet and bought this blanket. The first night it replaced the the three throw blankets. It's the warmest, softest thing I've ever felt. Do you ever look over at something you bought and just start smiling and laughing because you're so happy you have it? It's like that.

This blanket is perfect. I got it as a spare blanket for guests for the cold months. I have thinsulate gloves and a nice J. Crew coat now and I was impressed by its warmth. Its machine washable and dry-able, which is great for a any blanket. It is as soft as people say it is too, the faux fur side is wonderful. I got it in the blue color and it looks just like the picture. Its really warm and I'd say it could be used as a single blanket in the winter for a home that is kept above 50 degrees for a comfortable night's sleep without the bulk of a down comforter.
