Bought this one from Frys for $107 and I was not so positive at the time of buying by looking at low price. This is really an amazing burner. I burned three movies and they work without any issues with my BD players. This burner writes at 6X, if the disc is capable of that writing speed. It took 36 minutes to burn 36GB movie and 55 minutes to burn 50GB full disk.

When I first saw this unit, I have second doubts getting it. I make a lot of short films for myself and for my family and friends but I need something to burn it in HD quality video. A AVCHD-DVD is too short and it has a small capacity to make one in a DVD-R. I heard good things about blu-rays and people are eager to know if the Macbook Pro can support the hardware. Luckily I got this one, tried on my Macbook Pro.... VIOLA! It worked! I used Roxio Toast Titanium Pro for burning BD-R with my Macbook Pro.

On my netbook, the device worked (and I was using Windows XP Pro!). I can burn files and read them from the unit. The disadvantage of burning files from my netbook to the blu-ray is it takes more time to burn them on disc. Never thought it took me more than an hour and a half to burn on a 25gb 4x BD-R (using the latest Nero Burning software, I forgot the version number). But still, it was worth it!

I recommend this to the people who love making videos on their Mac and needs a burner to make High Definition videos on a Blu-ray Discs.

I purchased this because I wanted a blu-ray disk burner that could also lightscribe a label onto a disk. I ordered this because the information online stated that it could do all of these things. Well it is an excellent Blu-Ray burner, but it is not equipped to burn labels on lightscribe disks.

After reading the reviews I figured it was mostly a favorable accounting of the product. But what got my attention was the negative reviews about not being able to play a Blu-ray disc or a DVD on the LG rewriter. Perhaps they didn't follow the simple instructions correctly, or your computer has a problem. I'm no wiz, but I did as I was told and it worked perfectly. Then I burned with it, and that also worked fine, maybe a little slower then I'd like, but perfectly. The only thing I did wrong was not uninstall the previous burning programs, but while downloading from the new disc it reminded me and helped remove them for me. Thusly, I've only praise for the LG Blu-ray Rewriter. I'd advise anyone to but it, and it's so small it doesn't take up your work space. Another good point.

I really like this blu ray player and writer, its quick and it burns 25gb in about 20 minutes. i have not tried the 50gb yet. I like how it uses two usb cables to power itself.

LightScribe could have been a great product, but with some of the worst customer service and lack of options, it is quite a flunk. I bought this, it worked for about 20 CD's. Then it started telling me to put a LightScribe CD in. I had been using the same spindle of CD's so was a little confused. Tried everything, including reinstalling the driver, resetting computer, trying about 10 different discs without any luck. Finally, after hours of research I read that people had good luck with the Verbatim LightScribe CD's. So, I purchased those and they have been working great. Since I started using the Verbatim's I have only had issues with maybe 1 out of 15 CD's. Just realize if you purchase this thing there will be zero customer support. Any fixes/support will be from online forums.

I bought this burner from another vendor in spite of there being no mention of Mac support on the box or in the docs. I have a 2008 Macbook Pro 15 inch, running OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. I noted the double headed USB cable intended to make use of two USB ports, one for power, but decided to try using only a single port, since I didn't want to plug it into a hub, and my Mac has its two USB ports on opposite sides, and the provided cable wouldn't reach. Had the single plug in failed, I would have tried to get both connected, but it worked flawlessly.

I burned a single layer Verbatim BluRay disk, then another, and another, and another . . . as yet I have not made a single coaster, Toast 11 has not hickuped even once, and I'm a happy camper. I will later try burning some archival gold Mitsui DVD-Rs, just to test it, but so far, so good.

A previous reviewer had troubles using both plugs and a hub, which caused Toast to choke. I submit that the problem is probably the hub, not the burner. I have found it reads and verifies BR-Ds, and I've found it reads DVD-Rs as well as DVD+Rs and audio CDs. The software that came with it is all Windows, so of no interest to me. And wholly unnecessary.

And the double headed USB cable is also not necessary, at least on my Macbook Pro.

I paid for the drive and the shipping. I did notice the box looked like one that might have been returned. Anyway I plugged it up and everything looked ok. It burned disc that were unreadable even by the computer that I used to burn them as well as desktop players.
I paid more shipping to ship it back to "ILGIN Corp." and only got a partial refund of the purchase price? Sent them another email about the partial payment and I have gotten any response from them. How do you buy something that doesn't work, pay shipping both ways and the company keeps part of your money for your trouble??????

Wow!!!!!
