Number Slide

4.0 out of 5 stars 720 ratings

Number Slide brings the classic sliding number puzzle to Kindle.

In Number Slide, you are presented with a set of numbered tiles on a grid. One tile is removed and the remaining tiles are scrambled. The objective is to get all the tiles into proper numeric order by moving the tiles into the one open space and sliding them around until they are back where they belong.

Number Slide features hundreds of randomly generated game grids for you to enjoy. You can choose between a small (3x3), medium (4x4) or large (5x5) puzzle grid with larger grids being more difficult. You can also challenge yourself by trying to beat your best time on each puzzle.

Number Slide comes with instructions as well as tips to help you if you get stuck. You can choose if you wish to move tiles manually (where you select each move with the 5-way button first), or automatically (no need to press the 5-way button).

Amazon Digital Services does it again -- adding value to owning a Kindle by providing well-made games for free. Automatic tile movement makes the game a breeze to play, and these tiles move a lot better than the little Chiclet ones in the plastic versions. Automatic tile movement doesn't mean the game is played for you; it just means that when you move to a tile adjacent to the sole empty square, that tile automatically moves to the empty square, which is the only place it can move. You don't have to click on the tile. Nice graphics with the tiles edged to indicate where they go. Loving my Kindle 3 for both reading and games!

This is a rather easy and fun free kindle game. There are sixteen boxes in a square. One is open. The others have numbers 1-15. The numbered boxes are not in order. The object is to move the boxes so that they are sequential - 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., with the blank box at the lower right. Ample, easy to read instructions are given along with helpful tips. Also the kindle can give additional tips while you are playing. You have to option of the size of the board. I found that I could do the puzzle in less than five minutes and enjoyed doing so.

It seemed like this would be a pretty easy game to play, but it really wasn't for me. It is exactly as described and a good adition to your kindle, especially since there aren't many games compatable with the lower-end kindles. I'm sure some people will think this game is simple, but I struggle with it. Still, it keeps me busy.

I can remember playing with this game as a child, not on the kindle ofcourse but with a grid made of plastic and tiles that would interlock into the grid. After playing the game for a bit I realized how fast the time flew by and how addicting the game really was. Before i knew it i was playing for over an hour before even second guessing myself. Especially for a free game, there is not much else you could ask for. Simple rules, great game play, great board and tile simulation, and definitely as i mentioned a fun way to kill some spare time on your kindle. Would definitely recommend this game to any kindle users out there!

You know, the last thing I need is yet another addictive game on my Kindle!

This is a pretty fast version of the classic hand-held game we all played and many times were frustrated with growing up. There are several options you can choose, such as manually moving the tiles or having the Kindle do it automatically (choose automatic as it goes a lot faster and is less frustrating), you can have some "cheat" tips disguised as play tips, and you can make the various puzzles small / medium / large (I like the default medium setting).

On the left-hand side is a timer and on the right-hand side is your fastest time. Needless to say, my "fastest" time is like a tortoise, and I can feel an apprehension on me as the timer ticks, ticks, and keeps on ticking.

The graphics are very crisp and the response time is very fast on my Kindle 3 as compared to the slowness I saw on the free Kindle poker game, so this is a huge improvement. Now, I need to get my kids interested in this one as I believe it makes them think strategically vs. playing a shoot-em-up game.

Overall, I think most people will enjoy this and you certainly can't beat the free price.

Now, if I can just find time to read on my darn Kindle....

Hey, first of all the price is right at free. I got this and tried it. Wow, it is so much hard to do than how I remember the puzzles as a kid--the little plastic things. I didn't think I'd ever finish the first puzzle! Got really frustrated and flustered, how can it be this hard? All in all, it was fun and left me wondering why some of the other more complicated games are needed when something this simple is equally challenging. I got some Kindles to share with nursing home patients and this is one of the games I added for them. I hope some of them will enjoy getting reacquainted with this puzzle from our childhoods.

I used to love this game as a child. Maybe my age has something to do with it, but I found it to be a bit tedious to use. I didn't find the tiles too easy to move around on the board. Honestly, I'm glad it was a "freebie", and that I didn't spend money on it.

I'm glad Kindle has this! It is a good game but really really hard. I have math blender also. This game is really hard and does not really get done fast. It might take a couple of days to finish this game!

I think it was very hard and needed a little improving. Over all it was a good game. I think it could have been a little more funner by adding a tutorial and that is basically all. I don't love this game or really like it, I just think it is o.k.. I liked the fact they put out this game on kindle. I really think it kina couldn't have been better.

The game is good and it is good if you want to have the following:
    ·a game that is challenging
·a game that is fun to pass around
·a game thar is for most ages

The game is VERY VERY hard and I hope you enjoy it. I hope you find this review helpful!
