This is a very entertaining game. I never played the original (or first release of this game), but this one is in itself a lot of fun and not very easy to achieve the maximum points in some of the challenges (I have played some 25 of them). The idea is pretty macabre to think about "shooting birds with a slingshot" and these kamikaze birds break everything "almost" (they don't agree well against cinder blocks or steel sheets). But don't think they're birds or frozen chickens, they could be coconuts or balls and you'll have fun too :)
Update: now that I have played the original, and the seasons versions, I still like this one much more. I like the scenery and the monkeys better than the pigs... also the music is very contagious. Great game to spend hours improving your previous score :)

Everyone with a smartphone, tablet device or Google Chrome web browser knows about this game. Angry Birds on the Kindle Fire is just as awesome! It runs super fast and plays very smoothly. I never tried the ad-supported version so I'm not sure how many advertisements I'm skipping with my $0.99 purchase price, but for $0.99, even skipping 1 ad would be worth it.
My only complaint is that this game is so addicting! Also, given the various devices I currently own and have owned, I must have purchased this same app over 4 times! Anyway, if you loved the first game, you'll love this one!! Plus, it's only $0.99...get it and trust me when I say you'll spend more time on this app than doing anything productive.
This is probably my favorite AB game, although I like them all enough to have paid for the non-ad versions. I recently upgraded to a Droid DNA which has an HD screen. Suddenly all the graphics have shrunk to miniscule size. This has happened on all the AB games, but on this one it is especially bad. Yes, I can zoom in within the game, but the menu/episode screen is really hard to read and the buttons are very tiny and hard to push accurately because you have to be so precise with your touch. HD should make things look BETTER, not worse. Rovio - please fix! If you do, I will upgrade to 5 stars!

I enjoyed the star wars of angry birds but this is by far my favorite. The scenes themselves are enjoyable and there are degrees of easy to more difficult. Having the birds that fly and the fish that swim is very creative. However, it is the monkeys that are my favorite. I get the biggest kick out of them when they get knocked over and if they seem to slip when hit, they sometimes scrabble their little legs and sometimes they get to stand up instead of falling. If you haven't purchased any other angry birds do purchase this one, you will not regret it. I hope they continue to do more like this. What fun! On the negative side, I have become addictive to Rio that I get very little other projects done. Enjoy!
Really fun game in the vain of the original Angry Birds. Play the original (for free!) to get the hand-holding tutorial levels. This game jumps right in. Most levels play well on my base model phone. A quarter of them (so far) seem to slow way down as they overtax my phone's meager 600MHz processor.
DEVs: Thank you for being considerate of your users and both not autostarting your app and allowing us to move your app to SD card. Thank you! Anything you can do to further reduce the 2.5MB remaining on the phone's extremely limited internal storage would be much appreciated. Further optimizations for low end processors, like turning off animated backgrounds (like in the original game) would also be welcome!
Well, I can almost see why Angry Birds is the cultural phenomenon it is - my problem with the game has to do with hardware and not the game itself. This simply won't run on my Motorola CLiq with enough speed, responsiveness, or resolution to be playable, which is a darn shame because I liked what I was able to play. Even an iPhone screen seems a bit small for the precision required by the game, though the bigger screen and faster processor alleviate the problem to some extent. I won't drop more than 1 star, but if you offer the product for some hardware and not others, you really should include the Cliq in the unplayable group - it runs, and you can sort of play the game, but not in any way that is enjoyable.
This is one of the best games ever invented. It can be challenging at times, but you always have the chance to re-do each stage to gain a much better score, and have fun doing so. New levels and stages, as well as updates, seem to be offered at a regular pace ~ much more so than other games. The only drawback with this app is the constant and expensive in-app purchases needed in order to obtain the special and more powerful attackers. But, expensive in-app purchases seem to be a problem with every new app introduced, not just this game.

I first played this game on my Samsung Galaxy Note and loved it so much I just simply had to have it on my Kindle Fire too. The large touch screen makes it PERFECT to play this fun game. With LOADS of levels, challenging levels and even different once where you have to beat the giant bird, Angry Birds Rio is a brilliant swing on the original game.
More than worth it, go for it right now because you are seriously missing out.
I was miffed when my Kindle gave up the ghost as I had to start all games at beginning again - imagine my delight when I discovered totally new scenes in Rio ... not only monkeys to fight and different powers-up that let you use them more than once in each game. Thank you Fox. Great game.
I just can't get enough of this game. Extremely entertaining, with cute characters and appealing music and sound effects. (The crashing and tinkling when the birds manage to destroy buildings is most satisfying!) Lots of levels, and I love the way each bird has a different way of sorting out the pigs. Brilliant!
