I'm very happy with this case. Yes, it's overpriced, but it fits the new Kindle 4 perfectly. It gives the Kindle a little more heft and has a much more solid feel than a naked Kindle. I like how the Kindle snaps into the case and is not secured by corner straps like the third-party cased I've seen. The Kindle's USB cable fits perfectly with the case open or closed (see my uploaded product photo.) The top of the case easily folds back underneath the Kindle for one-handed reading. There are no magnets or any other device to hold the top open or closed, just gravity. If you open the top it stays open. If you close the top it stays closed and flat. It works just like it should. For me the only negative is I think the texture is too smooth. It looks great but sometimes I would like a little more texture to get a better grip on it. I would buy it again though.

    This Kindle leather cover strikes a nice balance between style and practicality. The genuine leather exterior feels smooth and looks polished, giving the Kindle a more premium presence. Inside, the microfiber lining cushions the device and prevents scratches, while the snug, form-fitted design means the Kindle stays secure without straps or clips. I especially appreciate how the cover folds flat against the back, making one-handed reading comfortable whether I’m sitting with coffee or commuting.

    It doesn’t add much weight or thickness, which is a big plus. The cover gives the Kindle a sturdier feel in the hand, almost like holding a small hardcover book, and the added heft actually improves grip during long reading sessions. Over time, the leather develops small scuffs and “character marks,” which I think adds to the charm, though those who prefer a flawless look may find this less appealing.

    There are a couple of things to keep in mind. The cover lacks a clasp or magnetic closure, so it relies on gravity to stay shut. It works fine in daily use, but if you’re tossing it into a bag with other items, it may open slightly. The leather itself is prone to light scratching, though it can be conditioned with leather treatment to refresh its look.     I bought my black kindle cover from "ExpressMedia" Used with a status of Like New for $23.58. True to the description, there are only a few light wear marks on the back and inside of the case that you can barely see so I feel it is accurately "like new." I will probably put that much wear or more on it with just a few days in my purse.

    It is quite thin and lightweight for a cover. I thought the leather would be heavier, but it's not. However, the surface is very smooth and nice to touch. They really did a good job making sure they wouldn't add excess size and weight to the kindle. Part of the appeal of this model kindle is that it's so light and easy to carry with you. It's not ruggedly made so it won't survive rough handling, but I bought this just to survive rides in my backpack and my purse as I commute, or splashes of food and water as I eat while reading. The cover will also help protect the screen in case my cat steps on it. Because it's made by Amazon and custom fitted, the buttons are all exposed perfectly flush with the case so that it's almost like you're not even holding a case. As far as I'm concerned, now that my kindle is in there, it's never coming out!

    I do agree that $40 is quite a lot for a case that doesn't have a closure or light. However, I am VERY pleased and satisfied that I bought mine used from ExpressMedia for quite a bit less which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. Would I consider this worth $40? No. But I definitely think it's worth $25 or less. If you are on the fence about buying this cover because of the price, I would recommend getting a used one "Like New" instead.

    The case itself is beautiful. But it does not fit what is currently called the Amazon "Kindle". I don't know which Kindle this is supposed to fit, but when I ordered it, along with the current, most basic Kindle, I figured it was the right one. It wasn't. Note how the cover is advertised even right now: "Amazon Kindle Leather Cover, Saddle Tan (does not fit Kindle Paperwhite, Touch, or Keyboard)". So, since I didn't buy the Paperwhite, Touch, or Keyboard, I thought this would fit. Except I apparently DID buy the Touch, but without knowing it. I bought the Kindle with the following headline: "Kindle, 6" Glare-Free Touch Free Display, Wi-Fi," which, to me, given the comma after the word Kindle in the headline, meant I bought something called the Kindle, one that has a glare free touch free display etc., which two of the more expensive Kindles also possess. I sent Amazon a note with my simple confusion when I returned it, but apparently it still makes sense to Amazon, but not to me even today. It's still confusing to an initial purchaser, I think, and besides, when a new Kindle and a cover are ordered together, you might think that the system would perhaps ring a bell if they weren't compatible. Anyway, I like the Kindle, and I liked the cover a lot, but just couldn't use it. Wish it were available for what I now know is apparently called the Kindle Touch.

    Ich habe diese Hülle für meinen Kindle erworben, da ich mir nicht sicher war ob er den Transport in meinem Rucksack übersteht wenn ich ihn im Zug oder zu Fuß mitnehme unbeschadet übersteht.

    Schon beim Auspacken war ich von der Qualität verblüfft. Das Leder ist wunderschön verarbeitet, nirgends steht ein Faden ab oder ähnliches. Ich habe dann auch gleich den Kindle in die Hülle gesteckt. Das funktioniert sehr einfach und die Hülle passt super. Das Öffnen und Schließen der Hülle ist ein Kinderspiel, auch der Teil der sich dabei umbiegt wirkt stabil genug. Mir ist auch gleich aufgefallen, dass ich den Kindle viel besser in der Hand halte, denn die Hülle ist um einiges griffiger als der nackte Kindle. Ohne Hülle fühlt sich der Kindle für mich ein bisschen rutschig an. Die zusätzliche Dicke und das Gewicht durch die Hülle stören mich nicht.

    Die Hüllen für den Kindle Paperwhite haben noch eine zusätzliche Funktion und zwar schalten sie beim Öffnen den Kindle ein bzw. schalten sie ihn beim Schließen in den Standby Modus, diese Funktion gibt es hier leider nicht.

    Meiner Meinung nach sollte jeder Kindle mit so einer Hülle ausgestattet sein, da sie ihn elegant und sicher schützt und in meinem Fall auch das Gefühl in der Hand verbessert.

    Sinceramente è un po' costosa come cover, però i materiali sono davvero ottimi e il suo dovere lo fa alla grande. Infatti combacia perfettamente con il kindle ed è fatto di vera pelle ( si sente anche dall'odore) e l'interno è morbido per non rigare lo schermo. E' anche comodo quando uno legge dato che si può ripiegare su stesso potendo utilizzare il dispositivo con una mano sola ( come se fosse senza custodia). Insomma a me piace tanto e sicuramente protegge benissimo il mio kindle

    Al principio dude porque me parecía excesivamente cara en comparación con el precio del aparato que debe proteger, vamos, lo que viene a ser que comparativamente "costara mas el collar que el perro", pero después de mirar muchas (casi todas), llegue a la conclusión de que no me gustaba otra, las demás a mi parecer eran en muchos casos de baja calidad u horteradas con broche y tarjetero que mas que una funda parecía el monedero de mi abuela.     Finally got a Kindle - what took me so long. I read the reviews on this cover and was slightly concerned, but thought that as it had been designed for this product surely it must be up to the job.

    The answer is YES it is up to the job. I agree that the cover is not the softest leather but it definately is nice and robust. As to not having a clasp/band to close it, I carry mine in a small fabric bag when I do take it out, but it is no different as having the official Ipad cover or a pda cover. As to the fit of the Kindle, it fits like a glove and protects the sides. And when you want to use the kindle it folds back fully without adding extra bulk which as far as I am concerned was my main requirement. As to the price, I must admit it is a bit expensive but really don't think anything else that is available will compare to it.

    The only downside was Amazon's ability to deliver the cover. I ordered in plenty of time for a present but, although it was in Stock, it took them 9 days to deliver it. Not a great deal of time, but way off Amazon's normally brilliant delivery times.

    If you've got a Kindle, treat yourself to one of these covers.
