This Motherboard is fast. I had a little problem at first. The board has a built in videocard and my Open-suse Linux 12.2 could not set it up correctly. I assume that might not affect win 7 the same way.

I've been using this board (rev. 3) for about 7 months now, paired with an Intel Celeron G530 and 8 GB of g.skill ddr3 1333 memory. It has no trouble keeping up with the 50-60 hour a week, day-in-day-out usage it goes through, though the system is rarely pushed to its limits. I commonly use it for visual studio 2010/2012, audio/video encoding, virtualbox and some gaming.

The G530 comes with intel HD 2000 integrated graphics which the motherboard faithfully and flawlessly hands off to the dvi video output, though I have not benchmarked it. Windows 7 Pro runs smoothly and there have been no graphics glitches or driver problems. Games like Diablo 3, L4D2 and other Source engine games, World of Tanks, etc run at passible framerates on medium quality at 1440x900. The board also supports HD3000 graphics but I haven't tested that, lacking the appropriate CPU. In the last month, I ended up adding a discrete graphics card and the board sanely defaulted to using the pci-e graphics adapter instead of the integrated with no BIOS configuration needed.

The on-board audio codec sounds pretty reasonable, considering it is integrated. Subjectively, my external USB DAC sounds better, but I regularly use the on-board audio and don't mind it at all. There's an S/PDIF header on the board if you need high quality audio output.

I haven't pushed the gigabit ethernet very hard, but it'll push/pull 80+ MB/sec to my NAS over CIFS on a regular basis. Like everything else on the board, it worked out of the box with no manual configuration required and no maintenance since.

Pros:
- Low cost
- No hassle setup. Physical installation is simple and the board is well labeled. Windows 7 autoconfigured everything.
- Solid and reliable so far. No maintenance or hiccups after 7 months.

Cons:
- Could use another 2 memory ports.

This board is a great value buy. Performance exceeds my expectations for a low cost board. It's very likely I'll buy another ASUS board in the future.

Bought this MOBO since ASUS has a good rep and overclocking wasn't necessary. Install only had a minor glitch - the rear connector panel didn't fit properly. After bending some tangs and using a little elbow grease, everything went together. I never had that kind of problem with an ASUS panel before. No big deal really.

Once put together, I was eager to get it booted and configured. Along with the MOBO, I also purchased 8GB of new memory, to take advantage of the increase in performance. On first boot, I tried to get into the bios by pressing del. On any other MOBO I owned, pressing the appropriate bios key will get you into bios within a second or two. With this board, nothing happened. My first thought was that the keyboard didn't get recognized. After doing some investigation, I found that the keyboard was recognized, but that the lag between input and response was right around 40 seconds when booting up. Also, hitting del during the first 20 or so seconds doesn't get recognized, and you bypass bios and go directly to windows. Windows boot, on the other hand, is fine and as fast as expected.

Thinking that maybe I had a bad memory module, I did some further testing and found that they were ok and boot times did not change no matter what combination of memory I used. I even took out one module and booted with that - no change in boot times. Switched with the other mem module, again, no change.

Next step was to go into bios - wait around 20 seconds, then hit del repeatedly until the bios screen appears. From there I looked into every possible option to see some kind of feature to turn on "quick boot", but I could not find any. My bios was only three months old, and doing a bios update did not help. Btw, the only hard drive in the system was working fine and caused no boot delay in my previous MOBO. So, memory is good, hard drive is good, PS is good, boot times from power putton to windows boot screen about 45 seconds. That's just to get to the windows boot screen, not the desktop.

Maybe I'm missing something, but previous MOBO was plug and play, with no such issues. Will do some more investigating and post an update with any relevant info. For now, it looks like the MOBO is one slow customer when it comes to booting up, much worse than the board it replaced.

I had a problem with the first MB it would not post. I contacted Amazon and they had a new exchange the next day.
Amazon 6 out of 5 stars but Asus 2 out of 5. I have installed Asus MB all the time and I have never had a bad broad out the box. This makes 3 in a row.

i have been an asus fan for many years and asus have never put me down yet since the first asus motherboard i have during the slot 1 era,p4800,1156 and now the 1155 era. so far i have no issues with my p8h61 motherboard right now with the intel i3 / 3.3ghz, it is too early to say, it is working fine so far since december 2010. If i could have waited long enough i could have bought the p8p67 model motherboard because it has potential and more room for upgrades and the price for the P67 board went down. So if your not in a hurry to built one, just wait for the price to go down. I put a 4 star because the price is a little bit high, and you can't overclock or play around with this motherboard, it is a simple straight forward motherboard and limited room for upgrade. I hope this review is helpful.
