I thought this was great when I first saw it many years ago but I admittedly didn't do as much research as I normally would. I was sorely disappointed by the lack of foresight in this product design. Here are my quick Pros & Cons:PROs:- Potential life-saving capabilities- Compact designCONS:- Only helps if you can access it- Maybe too small to find- Red clip easily detaches from principal unit- Button Cell batteries corroded- Small light with faulty buttonWHY would advertise attaching your keys, or anything of importance, to a useless clip that easily slips off?!?! This proves problematic for the obvious reason of losing your keys but because the device may be difficult to find when you truly need it; it can only save your life if it’s within reach! I’ve seen a similar tool combined with a USB charger securely held in the vehicle’s cigarette lighter that may be easily accessible in the event of an emergency. Another issue I have with this device is that the uncommon button cell batteries corroded even though I intentionally left the plastic tab to prevent them from engaging the contacts. My mobile phone light would be more reliable. I hope you have found my review helpful in making a more informed decision.

It works well, and lasts a long time. The 'knife' protector where the key chain hole is, slips out easily when used that way and is not useful to put on a key chain at that placement. So I drilled a small hole in the black part of the case below the red 'knife' protector and that placement holds onto the key chain with out a problem. The protector stays in place much better per the design and the razor blade/knife recessed in there will cut seat belts rather smartly. To use the spring loaded window break, the best place to push it on the side window of a car for example, is just above and in front of the door lock (about 2 inches from the corner of the window), and that placement will shatter the whole pane for easy egress or easy access if you are trying to get in from outside to pull some one out of a vehicle or house in a rescue. If you use the center of the window, the glass will bend on the pressure and it be harder to accomplish the task. I have had this for about 3 years since purchase and still works like new. The razor/knife is stainless steel and doesn't rust. Plastic design is light in weight but robust in practice.

I hate when people review items but have not used them, but now I am guilty. Like many things (fire ladders, bear spray (mace or pepper) fire extinguishers, tire socks, etc.) one doesn't know how they work until tried in an emergency which one hopes never happens. These are small, I bought one for each of 6 cars (not all mine), easily handled and fit in the pocket or purse attached to the keys, have nice features, and I feel are better than mounting a hammer in the car. The flashlight alone is good. In an emergency one does not want to be looking around for something in the glove box, storage box, etc. Seems well-madeI and I recommend as an oz. of prevention; gave one to each of my kids from 'Safety Santa'. I hope this helps someone.

These are designed well and compact, but not too small to handle. I purchased these pretty much only for the belt cutter and glass breaker. For that these are great and well worth $7. I purchased two and the flashlight was fine on one, but I had to bend a tab slightly and reseat the flashlight housing to get the other to work. The flashlight is not terribly bright, but bright enough to change a spare in the dark. However I wouldn't use it as primary or even secondary flashlight because it uses a momentary switch, isn't built that well, and in an emergency you are going to want something with more output.

This thing applies an impressively powerful whack to a pad of paper, so I imagine it will have no trouble breaking a car window. However, the plastic nose of the mechanism doesn't look very robust, especially considering the strength of the spring that you're compressing with it. I DO think it will get the job done, but it just seems so flimsy overall that I can't help wondering if the 6 or 8 test shots I've already done with it might be the last ones it's going to successfully pull off.

And on top of that, the LED light quit working after the third test shot with the glass breaker. I think the violence of that spring-loaded pin firing was too much for the light switch mechanism.

So yeah, this thing is cheap, light in weight, compact in size, and will probably break car window glass if I haven't already done in the mechanism with my 6 or 8 test firings.

Luckily I have not had the opportunity to use it for it's intended purpose other than as a key chain. I did test the glass breaking feature on a box and it slammed a metal tip which left a hole on the box. It appears to me that it would do the trick. The LED seems to go off pretty easily, which is not necesarily a bad thing. The key chain is attached to a plastic piece which slides out to reveal the seat belt cutter. In general the build quality looks good and it seems to be a handy tool for when its needed. The body is a bit bulky for a keychain, at least for my taste, but do have it strapped to a key FOB from work so that I don't loose it. Definitely recommend the item.

I really want to like this item because I can see it serving a real purpose, but twice I have had problems with it. The first one arrived with an inoperable flashlight, and the replacement broke within two weeks of arriving. The item stays on the keychain by means of a red plastic arcing piece that fits into the seatbelt cutter. Within days of putting it on my keychain the device started to fall off that red plastic piece and within two weeks it fell off somewhere and has been lost forever. I understand that it makes sense to keep it on your keychain so you will always have it with you in the car which is when you would need it, but it's not going to do you any good in an emergency if it has fallen off the keychain, just leaving you with a useless piece of red plastic that can't cut or break anything.

I am such a nerd. I have no clue why I got this. Maybe its the numerous accidents I have been in. Who knows? Truth is, I have been in law enforcement for years, and I have had friends who've owned them. One time I locked my keys in my car and didn't have roadside assistance or anything, so, out of desperation, I asked a cop friend to bust the little window out on my back door (NOTE: Never do that!!! Those are the most expensive windows on your car...lesson learned). Anyway, I thought there might come a time when a boyfriend does me wrong or I just want to play the hero in some dramatic roadside saga. Either way, this is a cool, little gizmo that will afford me that opportunity. Thanks, Swiss Tech. LOL!

Keyring attachment is on the blade guard which causes the guard to stay with your keys when the rest of the unit gets itself lost. Might be ok if you intend to keep it in the center console of a vehicle but it's not good as a keychain.
