I love buckwheat flour. It has a unique slightly gritty yet soft texture and a bold robust flavor.

Amazon carries this flour at a much better price than the local Whole Foods. The 4-pack lasts me a while so I don't need to order it very often.

Buckwheat is naturally gluten free. This flour should not contain any gluten by nature, but at the time of this review it is milled and processed at a Bob's Red Mill that is not certified gluten free. This means it may contain traces of other products that are not gluten free. If you are extremely sensitive to gluten you may want to skip this, but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue.

I use this flour to make buckwheat baked goods and pancakes, and this stuff also make great waffles!

Here's my gluten free buckwheat waffle recipe:

Mix together the following dry ingredients until well blended:
3/4 Cup Bob's Red Mill Organic Buckwheat Flour, 22-Ounce (Pack of 4) (can reduce to 1/2 cup for lighter buckwheat flavor)
3/4 Cup Pamela's Products Artisan Flour Blend, 4 Pound or Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix, 16 Oz
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Real Salt Sea Salt - Pouch, 26-Ounce
4 Tbs. Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Fair Trade Cane Sugar, 10 Pound (You can substitute honey, agave, or any other sweetener. If it's wet, add it in the next section instead of here)

Next, mix in wet ingredients:
1 Tbs. Farmers Market Organic Pumpkin, 15-Ounce (Pack of 12) or Santa Cruz Organic Apple Sauce, 6 Count, 4-Ounce Cups (Pack of 4)
2 fresh Organic Eggs
3 Tbs. Hain Pure Foods Safflower Oil, 32 Ounce or melted butter
1 tsp Rodelle Pure Vanilla Extract, 8-Ounce or 1/4 tsp. Vanilla Bean Powder (completely optional)
Almond or Coconut Milk until desired consistency is reached. The gluten free flour does better with less liquid, so I suggest keeping it pretty thick.

If you have a gas range, you can use Rome's #1100 Old Fashioned Waffle Iron, Cast Iron to cook these, it's awesome. Just make sure it is seasoned and oiled.
