Product Description
The RAVEN team's continued push to redefine and perfect the enthusiast tower chassis has resulted in yet another benchmark in the RAVEN RV03. With world-class cooling performance from the previous RAVEN chassis models retained by the included 180mm Air Penetrator fans, a rethinking of the interior layout enabled dramatic reduction in overall depth of the chassis compared to RAVEN RV02 while still matching RAVEN RV01's ability to accommodate Extended ATX motherboard and graphics cards longer than 13 inches. Cable management was also improved with a new 5cm thick hard drive compartment to allow nearly all cables to be connected behind the motherboard tray with ease. An unconventional power supply compartment located in the lower front part of the chassis further add to facilitate cable routing so anyone can assemble a pristine looking system with maximum airflow efficiency. Complementing the finely tuned and engineered interior, the RV03 has Champaign colored trimmings adorning an exterior with aggressive lines yet reserved profile. The stand out styling also fully utilizes the chassis's powerful cooling ability to full effect by a set of smartly designed, dual-purpose front bezels that helps to keep the RV03 looking sharp and uniform whether the user is setting up for maximum air cooling or for a silencing build. As a trend-setter and a computer chassis engineering showcase, the RAVEN RV03 has few equals. However, its advanced features are equally accessible that anyone from experienced enthusiasts to novice users will find easy to appreciate and utilize, making RV03 the most appealing RAVEN chassis yet!

The SilverStone Raven ATX Case Series
The mission of SilverStone’s RAVEN team is to design products with bold styling and features. With stealth fighter-inspired outer shells, Raven cases have an unmistakable wow factor, while still remaining timeless. For the interior, a revolutionary layout takes advantage of a very simple phenomenon – heat rises. By rotating the motherboard 90 degrees, hot air from the CPU and GPU area naturally exits out the top.

The Silverstone Raven RV-03 brings air cooled fan systems to the next level with it's 90 degree MOBO mounting system pushing rear exhaust heat out vertically (vs horizontally out the back in standard cases) supported by two side by side large fans below (one below the GPU the other for the CPU). The interior space has gaming in mind, designed for larger MOBO setups and support cooling your multiple GPUs (graphic cards). Directly under the two large fans are two magnetic mesh panels to prevent dust intake. The power cables that plug into your MOBO from your case are individually seperated and clearly labeled verses the block style 2x8 in standard cases.
For the RV-03, the panel behind the MOBO provide easy cable management and access to up to 4 SATA internal hard drive; freeing up space for additional drive bays .. The drive bays have an easy to install screwless snap and lock system. The lower drive bays can also be modified to provide additional horizontal fan support for multiple GPU setups. Below the drive bays is the PSU bay "Power supply unit" mounted only in single direction for PSU with horizontal fans ~ (the PSU fan shoots the air out horizontally) .. Vertical Mounted PSU's will NOT work with this case.. The case provides a power cable designed to plug into the PSU and directly under the PSU bay is the outlet to plug into your Powerstrip..
The case comes with an easy to follow instruction guide and all the mounting screws required to install a MOBO, Hard drives and two SATA Cables. I'd buy additional SATA cables if needed, 18" are good if u want to tuck them around the back cleanly. In the picture on the front of the case on the top the white v shaped LED flashes Red when working/loading, my friend who has an earlier version flashes a different color.. blue or white i forget..
How's the cooling?
Measured with EVGA Precision X: Game Guild Wars 2.. On highest graphics settings, shadows, shaders, etc
GPU EVGA GT630 with stock fan & RV-03 Idled: @ 40-45* C, Gaming : 55-60*C
EVGA GT630 with Arctic Accelero L2 Plus fan, & RV-03 Idled @ 31-33*C, Gaming : 40-50*C
The below GT440 are taken in reference to my previous purchase of the Arctic Accelero L2 + Fan (AA L2+) review.. with my old small tower case. Although they are not the same GPU, they are very similiarly speced and comparable.. Look it up at..
gpuboss.com the two GPUs: EVGA GT440 and EGVA GT630
EVGA GT440 with dying stock fan, small tower case ~ Idled: @ 60*C, Gaming : 70-80*C
Guild wars 2, Lowest settings minimal or no shading, shadows etc..
EVGA GT440 with the ARCTIC Accelero L2 Plus fan, small tower case Idled: @ 30-40*C, Gaming : 40-55*C
Guild wars 2, On highest graphics settings, shadows, shaders, etc in game..
My GT440 died later on so i wasn't able to try it in the RV-03 setup.. Even with the RV-03 cooling, I also noticed a significant boost in performance after installing the AA L2+ on my GT630, while gaming (GW2) the temps would slowly climb, fluxuating and actually decreasing at times.. This helps decrease tearing, maintaining more consistant FPS and better gameplay.. Where without AA L2+ the temp would steadily rise to the top value.
So Any Problems?
Those that want to reuse a vertical mounted PSU might say it is an issue... it wasn't for me..
Only one i had was when installing the hard drives on the back panel..
Despite what the instructions say.. I'd recommend installing your hard drives before the MOBO..
For me one of the box panels legs got loose after the first unscrewing and basicly fell off another remained loose after rescrewing.. It might be possible to rescrew it in from the MOBO side but im not removing my MOBO just to reattach/tighten that leg piece... work slowly because the other hard drive panels had no problems..
Last thing, It's a big tower L x W x H.. that will need to be elevated off the ground to prevent dust intake.. so measure it out accordingly.
Despite this minor issue overall I'd still say the pros far out weight the cons, 5 stars.
Anyone looking to upgrade or get a great air cooled setup should strongly consider this tower.
Perfection is hard to achieve, and there are some imperfections. First, you will need a screw driver to install hard drives, which I don't mind of all. What I do disagree with is alternate mounting of the hard drive mounts behind the motherboard tray. Getting the extra harddrive cages out of the front of the case seems to be unnecessarily difficult, given that there are six toolless devices to hold them in place. The power cord connects on the bottom of the case at the front, something I am working on changing, and a glaring flaw that contrasts the beauty of all the connections on the top. The extra fan mounts at the back and right side of the case are not only unnecessary, but detracts from the case. The stock fans in the bottom, even on low, are too loud. I used diodes to lower the fan speed to a pleasant level. I added the Silverstone case foam to both, absorb sound, and to cover the extra fan mounts in the back, and the side. I added diodes to the power adaptor for the bottom case fans to make them quieter, all I can hear is some gentle air movement. The inherent cooling of the case is so good, there is no change in component temps with the fans on low versus high, although the air coming out of the top of the case is dramatically different. Considering I bought the case to be cool, convenient, and quiet, the outcome of the project is exceedingly good considering the case is marketed to gamers who are not concerned with noise usually. The cooling is exceeding good, as long as zip ties and time is used to route wires and minimize spaghetti.
I like the way the cables come out the top and route through the back. The only complaint is the usb3 cabling which is kinda odd. You basically connect to the external jacks to get it out the front. I love this case.
