I *HATED* This Book

This book is awful. Seriously, save yourself the money. Instead, find a drunken frat buddy -- ideally one who is a failed comic. If they're childless, the advice will be on-par with this book. If they have a kid, then you actually might come out ahead. Either way, at least you'll be drunk.

This book makes every stupid cliche joke you can think of. Worst of all, it imparts little-to-no useful information.

Unsatisfied, I looked around for another book, and found "The Expectant Father: Facts, Tips, and Advice for Dads-to-Be." I'm about 1/3 of the way in, but I've already learned more than I did from the entirety of the "Dude!" book.

Seriously, I read the entire thing.

Learn from my pain.

Do not buy this book.

A good husband won't want this.

I got half way through this book before I gave up the search for useful knowledge by this author. If you and your wife speak to each other and view each other as equals, or if you've ever met a pregnant woman at a bus stop, you understand more than this author is giving you credit for. Every page assumes that you are ignorant to the point that it's insulting. Please, don't be drawn in by the graphic cover and dumbed down title.

So Painfully Sexist

Hubby was reading this one night in bed and started laughing. I asked him why and he just pointed to a line in the book that says "Make it clear to your BMP (Baby Making Partner) that you still expect a hot meal and foot rub upon your arrival home from work." I had to read the whole page, which was talking about life changes, about 10 times to try and figure out if the author was kidding. He wasn't. My husband's response to that line was "if I said that to you, I'd be sleeping on the couch indefinitely." - Um, yeah. So thankfully I have one of the good ones, but that doesn't excuse the author's sexist advice to soon-to-be-dads.

Cant hate on this book. Pretty darn useful. My opinion is that this thing has way too much in the way of attempting to be entertaining. The author assumes all of us were college frat boys with the type of humor he uses. You learn to skip past that and get to what I think are helpful facts and povs

Bought this (and the What to Expect When Your Wife is Expanding) for my husband who has never changed a diaper. He didn't find it very helpful as it made light of most topics and he wanted something more in depth. He's enjoyed more the ACOG book that my OB/Gyn is letting me borrow more than this one. This book seems very basic and advises the reader to research other books. On the up side, it made him laugh from time to time, but he didn't even want to donate it when he was done - just put it in the recycle bin.
