Pirate Stash

3.4 out of 5 stars 500 ratings

Pirate Stash is a logic puzzle game that challenges you to hide all of your treasure chests on a deserted island.

X marks the spot as you push one or more treasure chests to be buried in designated hiding places. Maneuver your loot through a maze of obstacles, but be careful not to make the wrong move. You can only move one chest at a time and the chests cannot be pulled. When the treasure chests are all in place, you have solved the puzzle.

Your score for a puzzle is the number of times each chest is pushed, with a lower number of pushes being better. Achieve up to three stars on a puzzle. Gain one star for solving the puzzle, two stars for matching par for the puzzle, and three stars for a perfect score. Over 100 puzzles of increasing difficulty allow anyone, from beginners to experts, to challenge their minds. Can you beat them all?

If you like puzzle games, you'll love Pirate Stash!

In this fun puzzle game, you play the role of a pirate who can only push treasure chests - never pull them - around various mazes so that each one ends up on a big X, where it will be buried. It's a spatial-logical puzzle that requires thinking through your course of action and planning ahead. It starts with some quite basic puzzles that almost anyone could solve without too much trouble, and moves up to some quite challenging ones. Many of the later puzzles require lateral thinking - even when you have a clear path to the X, you may need to stop short to make room for another chest to pass. Or you may have to move a treasure chest away from the X to get closer to your goal.

The game comes with some nice shortcuts for later puzzles, which allow you to move the treasure chests quickly, so that you're concentrating on the puzzle rather than on playing with the controls. Each of the puzzles is separate, so you can put the game away and come back to it without losing your place. The puzzles are replayable, so if you don't finish in the least possible number of moves, you might want to go back and see if you can achieve a perfect score.

Currently this game is free, so I'd suggest you pick it up and give it a try!

Am repeating my review as it did not go the first time. I am unhappy with this game because I cannot play it on my kindle (with keyboard). When accessed a picture of an island with a ship in upper right corner is displayed but nothing else. I cannot see any pirate chests or go to another screen or use the Menu button to change the screen. Totally unplayable so I am bummed. Really unhappy, but guess I shouldn't expect more when it is free.

Shiver me timbers, this is a great Sokoban game for the Kindle! The developers have taken the classic game and have added some great improvements. The most notable is the ability to teleport your pirate and automove your treasure chest. This feature saves a lot of time and frustration moving your pirate around. Another nice feature is that there are three levels of achievement per level. The first level of achievement (one star) is simply getting all of your chests to the "X"'s (regular Sokoban). You get the next level if you can achieve the objective in an average number of moves (par). You get 3 stars if you can do it in the fewest number of moves possible. It's also worth mentioning that this game has a nice unlimited undo function (believe it or not, I've played Sokoban games in the past where if you made one mistake ,you had to start over - ARGHHH!). With 118 levels this game is a solid value for $1.99.

This free kindle game has over 100 puzzles, with a clear introduction, and five easy introductory games that helps the player get accustomed to how the games work. There are about two dozen each of beginner, intermediate and difficult games. The object of the game is to get a figure, the pirate's treasure, into a designated spot. The chests move when the player moves the curser to have the pirate push the chest. The game is over as soon as all of the treasure chests are in place. There are ways to correct mistakes. There are some things players need to beware. If a chest is pushed into a corner, it cannot be gotten out. Players can leave the game, close the kindle and come back to where they left off. Players can press solution to see how a puzzle can be solved. The game may appear difficult at first, but once the player gets the hang of the game, it is fun.

I was testing out the way this game works before deciding how many of my five children would get some enjoyment out of it. It started getting sluggish on the fourth puzzle I tried, with the movements not happening until several seconds after I pressed the five-way. Then it started freezing up in the game. I powered off and back on, tried again, and it froze again. I powered on and off again, tried again, and the next time I had to do a reset to get my Kindle back up and running. I deleted it, but I really think the game would be good for learning strategy/logic for the much younger set and mindless entertainment for the older set. I'll try it again, I'm sure.

This is a very simple game that gets gradually more difficult and while perhaps simplistic for the first 2 main levels (Intro & Easy) and perhaps the 3rd (Medium), the challenges become far more mind-boggling as each scenario unfolds. For the perfectionist this game could take hours and hours and is a fun way to pass the time on the kindle when taking a break between reading.

    Enjoy!

Not really something I enjoyed. So simple but hard at the same time. It actually makes me feel stupid doing it....you know where it has to go, but to get it there...like I said; simple but hard.

I wasnt familiar with this type of game and I approach it as a newbie who is interested in a new game for when I have some time to kill but dont want to start a book- doctors office, airplane flight etc.

Pirate Stash works very well for this. The rules are very simple so it will only take about 5 minutes until you are up to speed on how the controls work and what are the rules of play.

Likewise the game doesnt require a ton of context- the puzzle are independent and there are only about 5 or so solving techniques you need to suss out for yourself in order to solve them. By the time you get to the hardest level you will be brought along to the point where the Experts aren't too bad. About 10 minutes for the hardest puzzle.

There is also the concept of "par" and least possible moves so you can go back and try to improve your solving methods.

This isnt a super hard puzzle set, but they are tricky enough to be fun and short enough that they make a good time killer. Priced at $1.99 that makes it a good buy.
