Right now I'm using a really old creative Sound Blaster Live-24Bit, from a old Dell computer until i can replace this motherboard.
The motherboard itself is a great motherboard when it comes to price, features and ease of use.
I currently have:
-FX6100
-8GB DDR3 1333
-460GTX
-600Watt PSU
-1.5TB Harddrive
-640Gb harddrive
So while I'm happy with almost everything, audio is a big part for me, I looked for good, budget motherboards, with Coax out, and found this.
Personally I would recommend this greatly if you dont use onboard audio, but I cant afford a good dedicated sound card for a while, so i was really sad when the onboard audio had so many problems.
I feel like might just be defective, so I'm going to replace it with the same one, and see how well that goes, if the same thing happens again, I'm going to get a different company.
But until I get a working motherboard, that works fine, im keeping the rating low, as Audio really is a big deal for me, as I game and listen to music, and watch movies.
Update-New motherboard has been good for 2 months now, but i still decided to buy a sound card as i want dts.\
Update-9/29/2013. Motherboard still going really strong, no problems. Works great!
Update-3/03/2016- Motherboard Still working perfectly fine.
Update-2/21/2017- Still working Great, No issues.
However i am a man, that build his own rig as he wanted it. And i wanted to still thank Tom's hardware for all the sound advises on my choice for getting this board.
Pros:
* Great design, easy to install board
* Dr debug, a easy to read display to troubleshoot any problems the board has or may have at that time.
* Supports SLI and Crossfire and even QUAD Cross fire, for a board of this price very awesome!
* 32 Gig ram, is the max so more then enough to be called a gamers board if you ask me.
* Reset and power button, are located on the motherboard as well, great for open case builds!
* Silent fan technology, fans get regulated by the motherboard to be silent, yet optimal cooling performance.
Cons
* The headers should been color coded, small but still makes it easier for builders like me.
* The 1st SATA connection, gets blocked if you use a high end card in the PCI slot near it (i use a GT660 card)
Conclusion
This board is very well constructed, there enough SATA connectors at you disposal that should not be a problem with hooking up all your drives. However, it's still a point the might want to change, in the upcoming models.
It was easy to install even for someone like me, and it runs great!
I do recommend if you use a liquid cooler kit like i do, do make the right casing choice. Go for a big tower not a midi, or you wind up like me. In customizing it to be outside the casing, but this is just a case problem, not from the motherboard.
I just paired this with an FX 6300 and it booted up with no problem. I have updated the bios just in case. The bio is okay, wish it had more options though like my z77 Asus board. Easy to overclock. Managed to get 4.4ghz overclock with a Hyper EVO 212 cooler with no problem with the Auto OC setting.
The Bad:
The only problem I have with the board is that none of the audio components are working after hours of troubleshooting (Yes onboard audio is enabled in BIOS). I ended up just driving to Best Buy and buying a sound card to see if that would fix my sound problems which it did. Also this might not be a problem for most but the speaker for the motherboard for the post doesn't make the beep noise upon successful boot up. Only when there is an error or when entering bios.
Overall its a very solid board with a good layout for the connectors (Except I wish they put the Front Panel Audio connect on the bottom of the board instead of the side). Not that that matters for me because my onboard audio is broken. So in the end if you get a fully working board this board is great. I don't want to go through the trouble to RMA this board just because the onboard sound isn't working like it should.

What is unique about this board amongst 970 series boards, is that it allows SLI as well as crossfire graphics set-ups. The on board audio sound is good with no hiss audible on my headphones. There is plenty of space between the CPU socket and the memory sockets unlike some boards where the cooler can clash with the memory heatsinks.
Be aware that although it is rated for use with 140W TDP CPUs such as the FX8350, a downwards facing cooler must be used that directs some air on to the VRMs - under the large heatsink between the CPU and the I/O panel. When I first ran an FX8350 on this board with a horizontal flow cooler it occasionally throttled back under high loads. I rectified this by directing airflow on to the VRMs and it has run without a hitch even when playing demanding games such as Battlefield 4 for extended periods at the stock CPU clock. If you want to overclock a high powered CPU such as the FX8350, I'd look for a board with more VRM power available, as this board is approaching its limits with an 8350 at it's standard clock.
Overall I am very pleased with the board. For the cost it is excellent but it has its limitations for overclocking. I'm giving five stars - these limits are not a criticism of the design, just an observation.
- tolles Mainboard
- macht was es soll
