This show is by far one of my favorites watching when I was growing up. Not only was Static very amusing to watch and his jokes great, but the action, and Static's quick thinking rather than his power alone manage to get him out of tough situations. I also like the realistic perspective on life the show gives. There are indeed many problems a young teen growing up in the city can face, from bullies, poverty, and many forms of bad influence. Even through all this Static (Virgil) remains true to himself and his heroic principles. Showing that you don't need a reason to do the right thing, you do it because it's the right thing to do.

I enjoyed the Milestone line of comics from the 90s and was pleased to see at least one of their characters succeed on television. As a bonus, the series includes a number of fun crossovers with the other DCU cartoon series of the time (Justice League Unlimited, Batman, Superman the Animated Series, Batman Beyond). Though I would have loved to see more in-universe exploration of other Milestone characters like Icon & Rocket, Hardware & Technique, Shadow Cabinet, and Xombi. Along with tv versions of Rocket, Xombi, and Technique, it's easy to envision the series developing into a Milestone version of Teen Titans or Young Justice.

I bought this first season primarily for my 3 young boys (6-11) and, to my surprise, all three of them love it even more than I expected. It definitely feels "of its time" compared to the many great superhero options today both in its animation style and writing. And I can't help thinking if it were reimagined today in the hands of the right crew of writers that it could be as good as the prematurely canceled Spectacular Spider-Man or Ben 10/Generator Rex, although I suspect they might go more in the slap-stick style of Teen Titans or Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man.

If you're looking for a fresh world, distinct from the familiar comic book universes of DC and Marvel, this is a good place to look. Nowadays, DC has made an effort to integrate the old Milestone characters into their mainline comic universe and even on television, most notably with Icon & Rocket featuring in the outstanding Young Justice tv series. So we probably won't get a chance to see much more exploration within the original self-contained Milestone's "Dakota-verse".

Static Shock is kid-friendly even for the younger ones, relatable, and a refreshing inclusion of minority characters that is still somewhat lacking even today.

Amazon is amazing because this is the only place you can buy any part of the series. I love it and it brings back so many good memories---and the kids love it too. AMAZON PLEASE GET THE OTHER 3 SEASONS ON HERE. I WILL BUY THEM IF YOU DO. My only critique is that its not the original theme song, but thats a small price to pay to get the whole first season of Static Shock.

I have been looking for this series forever! I loved it as a kid, and I still love it as an adult! I think it's got excellent plot and dialogue, safe for kids to watch and interesting enough for adults to follow along. It also has several good lessons, like standing up against bullying or encouraging children with dyslexia, but without making it feel like a public service announcement. I am SO sad they cancelled the show and you can't buy it on DVD, so two thumbs up that I found it on Amazon!

this cartoon is one of the greatest shows ever made... to me anyway. Everything about this show is good. I grew up watching this show and honestly it is 1000 times better than most of the cartoons or shows directed toward teens today. the characters and their issues are relatable and the superhero is truly a good guy. Positive role models are hardly portrayed anymore.

Of all the series that came out of the WB this series is well plotted and so well in voice acting that I can not understand why DC Comics has not issued out all 4 seasons on dvd...it is excellent especially when they have guest stars from the other DC Comics animated universe appear on it.
