In reviewing this Season 1 episode (1985-86) from the original "Thundercats" cartoon series, one must appreciate the subtle lesson it teaches. The weak Snarf (often, the forgotten seventh Thundercat) is the last one left after Mumm-Ra and his Mutant cohorts successfully capture each of the other Thundercats (yes, curiosity captures the cats). The villains dismiss little ol' Snarf as any threat to them, with the Thundercats and the all-powerful Sword of Omens already held captive in Mumm-Ra's temple of doom. Yet, as his Thundercat family's only hope for rescue, Snarf utilizes his own unique talents to save the day. The lesson about trusting yourself to make good judgments (no matter how little you are) and doing your best against the odds should hit home to virtually all kids.

It is not too preachy for adults, and the episode remains well worth twenty minutes of your child's time.

If you grew up in the 80's you'll probably have fond memories of the Thundercats, you may even remember finding any plastic sword you could find and pretending it was the Sword of Omens. Now, like just about every 80's cartoon, it's fairly cheesy, but I will watch every episode just as I did back then. This one is a classic. If you didn't grow up in the 80's but like watching the old Transformers, GI Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. you will not be disappointed with the Thundercats.

For those NOT in the know, Thundercats is a cartoon series about Lion-O and his band of exiled Thundercats who have taken up residence on Third Earth...they make friends with some of the indigenous peoples and enemies with Mum-Ra, an evil Egyptian Mummy and his band of underlings.

This program is pure nostalgia for someone who grew up with cartoons from the 70's and 80's. The quality of the digital transfer is good and the audio is a as clear as when it first blasted from my parent's 19" Zenith TV. Don't be fooled, the show has aged and not as gracefully as I'd like. The stories are simplistic but there is enough of seed for a reboot.

Was really surprised of the quality of this old cartoon. Brings back memories from when I was home alone as a kid waiting for this to come on TV to watch after school. It's simple with the simple ethics in mind to be shared with today's kids if they only knew what TV was but maybe you can get them to watch something old that tries to get good messages across to our youth.

I prefer to watch the old cartoons and old shows. Thundercats were a group of superheroes with values. They demonstrated teamwork, independence and loyalty just to name a few. I enjoy watching them and I watch them with my grandchildren. It provides "teachable" moments with my grandchildren as we discuss the characters.

ThunderCats HO! These are great reflections of the 80's feel of cartoons. Not quite as good as my nostalgia for them, but I still like the stories as well as seeing the fun cat people running around. I am glad that there are all of the seasons collections here for the viewing, good stuff.
