The final challenge in becoming a Jedi Knight is to build your own lightsaber. With the Remote Controlled Lightsaber Room Light, young Padawans can construct their own Jedi lightsaber and mount their creation as a room light on the wall. This is a wonderful Star Wars item. I usually don't buy Star Wars merchandise because it's often more fun than useful. However, this room light is useful, fun to build, and gives you something to enjoy related to the Star Wars story. I've seen the reviews that talk about the product being flimsy and many times not working. I don't believe this would happen very often. I made sure I followed the instructions very carefully. I used AAA LR03 alkaline batteries (all new), and I was careful I inserted them in the correct direction. Then you only need to be careful the battery pack makes a good connection with the electronics pack, which isn't hard. The lightsaber made a noise when I hit the power button by mistake before I even put the wand on the end. The construction isn't hard, just fun. The base that hangs on the wall is sturdy plastic and it slides on an off the wall mount easily. The hilt of the lightsaber doesn't come off the base, but it is easy to hold if you want to engage in a little fun. The blue light looks cool in the dark. The remote also worked the first time, and turns the light off if you are ready to go to sleep and don't want to see it. I would highly recommend this fun product.

I purchased 2 so I could make a 'statement' in his room about the power of them & used 2 different colored Lightsabers which is cool -- but make sure you read closely to get the colors you want and the effects you want them to do. The controlers are a wonderful touch. Sadly they do not 'work' as 1 when you have more than 1 so you have to keep track of them. IF you have a desire to play with them .. I will warn you not to. They are a bit on the flimsy side and they "seem" and I use that word "seem" that they would break easily. They do slide off & on easily from the bracket on the wall. I like the sound. Could be a bit more dramatic .. but it works for a child. FYI -- they do go off after a certain amount of minutes so the batteries are not depleted so quickly which is a wonderful touch. AND of what I could tell from the 2 different ones I purchased ..the touch buttons / handles are designed differently so you can collect ALL of them per that character in the movie.

I saw other reviews that said they dont light up well but they look good to me as shown in the pic I posted. The fact that they use batteries doesn't really bother me because the lightsabers look better without any wires around them. I would recommend them.

Don't let the description fool you. This lightsaber is blue only, not a 9-color version. It is a fun light, not a great toy. The plate it is attached to doesn't come apart, so when the kid wants to play with it, you can't take the plate off and get a good grip on the handle. Pretty overall disappointed.
