Works; mounting slots aren't good
It works. I even used an outlet testing device to make sure that all the outlets are properly grounded. It feels pretty cheap, but you have to expect that at this price.Really my only complaint is the mounting holes on the back. They're just one-way keyhole slots, and I think having them point the other direction would have been a better choice (4-way crosses would have been even better). If I was going to mount it vertically, I think I'd most likely want the cord at the bottom, but that would make gravity tend pull it out of the slots. For horizontal mounting, any tension on the cord would do the same. Also, the slots are poorly made. They're very shallow, and it took me a while to find screws that would fit. One of them is actually not on a flat part of the back; the whole thing tapers near the end, and the slot is partly on the tapered section. Anyway, I did manage to get it mounted horizontally.

We have a dimplex fireplace insert in our fireplace that's about 10 years old. It turns on and off by remote control. The remote stopped working, so I called Dimplex to get a replacement, but was told they no longer make that style and do not have any in stock. They suggested we just plug it in to use it and unplug it when not in use. The nearest plug is behind a piece of furniture, so that really wouldn't work for us. The insert still works great and puts out a nice amount of heat, so we don't want to have to replace it.
This outlet turned out to be a great solution. We can use it for other items as well as the fireplace insert, and just turn off the plug to the insert when not in use.. I've never seen a power strip outlet with individual controls for each plug, so when I saw this on Amazon, I was very hopeful it'd be a solution to our problem, and it has been... We really don't use that insert very often, but this past February had record cold temps here in Northern Michigan, and we were sure glad we had this extra heat source on some of those very cold mornings.. The plug has worked great and well worth the purchase price.

The mounting slots are fairly flat, it takes a thin headed screw with a square angle from head to threads to fit it. I looked through all my screws and luckily found only the four I needed to mount two of these strips. You may need a trip to the hardware store to find ones that work.

As always, throw in an extra screw right near where the cord attaches after mounting it, to be sure it never slides out. I do that for all my power strips.

Its quite thick, which is perfect for sticking on labels for each outlet so you know which to flip.

For this price, 15A, 6 outlet with individual switches, this is a great deal, I got two for the price of one of the other ones.

Works great, especially for my 3 InstantPot Machines that never turn off, my Vitamix, KitchenAid and Ninja are attached too, as is my Water Cooler, Toaster, and Pasta maker. Don't daisy chain them, just plug each strip into a wall outlet. You never use more than one of the pieces of equipment at a time anyway, so don't worry about that. 15A is plenty. Also has a built in breaker.

I wanted switchable outlets to eliminate some parasitic "vampire" loads (game consoles, phono and speaker preamps, etc) from my media center. The price of a power strip might offset any savings at first depending on your electrical load, but if it frees up a "normal" strip you're currently using, that lends value too. I ended up getting two of these on sale for the price of one; one for $10 is a good price comparable to a quality (standard) non-switchable outlet strip.

And these ARE pretty good quality. Plastic construction, midweight, but sturdy. The illuminated switches don't move around, and the fit of plugs into the sockets is nice, tight, and secure. The cords are sturdy with heavy strain relief and it just feels like a nice, quality power strip, not a cheapo hack job. All 6 outlets are polarized and grounded.

The design is sensible in that the outlets are oriented so that a typical power brick won't cover the switch. However, the outlets are spaced close together so a larger brick might cover an adjacent outlet, which is a common annoyance. That keeps this strip from being 5 stars... on the other hand, power strips that allow extra space get to be stupid-big in a hurry, so it's a trade-off of sorts. A design improvement would turn the last outlet sideways, perhaps. Another nice feature would be one of those surge-protection indicators, but it's not really rated for that - think of this as more of a selectable switch bank, not a surge protector.

The only gripe I have is that there was excess plastic flash in the keyway slot on the back of the strip. Before I could mount this onto screws inside my cabinets, I had scrape the flash with a small screwdriver. Took all of 3 seconds once I realized the issue, and 90% of power strips just lie on the floor, so it's not a big deal.

All in all, I'm pleased with these and they solved the issue I had: I can now conveniently turn on peripherals only when they are needed, without moving furniture to plug them in.

Bought this for my office' Green Committee. I heard a few of them complaining about "phantom electronics" one day during my lunch break and between rolling my eyes because a) its an office building not your home b) none of the employees pay the bills here, c) the bill is static at our office (I checked with our fiscal person) so regardless of how much energy we use/don't use we don't see a cost difference, and d) to just shut them up and make them happy, I went ahead and ordered it and presented it to them.

We have it set up in our shared kitchen/break room with things like the microwave, toaster, toaster oven, etc. plugged into it. There was a big hoopla to the staff from the Green Committee about turning the switch off to power the various electronics due to phantom power draw etc. and it all lasted about a week before people started complaining about how annoying it was that the clock on the microwave was constantly flashing, or wrong, or how they forgot to turn it on, and it took 5 mins to figure out what the issue was etc. that now everything is just left in the on position.

Bottom line, this product works, and it works well. Just depends on what you intend to use it for, and what your expectations are. As far as my sliver of effort to help save mother earth, I guess I have failed. You might catch a little bit of sarcasm in this review, but seriously the product works well.

This is by far the cheapest Power Bar on Amazon with an individual on/off switches for each socket. It is good quality and works well. I do hope that the supplier adds two USB ports in the next version while keeping the price point close.

I have a television, a Roku box, an Android box and a computer printer plugged into the unit. These are all power hogs. All I have to do is flip a switch when I'm done using something and zero power is being used. When you need to use something, just flip a switch and it comes to life. Good investment.
