Pros:
-about an 18 inch long cable
-not a very thick cable
-Works with a Seagate Backup Plus 1TB external hard drive (most likely with every external hard drive).

Cons:
-cable is a little stiff
-will not bend at small angles very well

Packaging and shipping:
-shipped with USPS
-ordered 3-5 business day shipping and came in three days
-The cable was placed inside a zip-lock bag. That zip-lock bag was then placed inside a white plastic bag.
-white plastic bag was very easy to open and disposed of along with the zip-lock bag.

I got it since i needed it to connect a Usb 3.0 HDD to my Wii U since the usb ports on the wii u does not have enough power to boot the device (shame on you Nintendo). I bought this cable in order to use 2 usb ports for the portable HDD and it works flawlessly. Get it if you are planning to add a HDD to the Wii U.

Bought this to power my USB drive for our Wii U

The Wii U requires as much power as you can give a USB hard drive it seems. To be fair Nintendo did state that you would need a hard drive with an external power supply or use a Y splitter to power a the drive in most cases. The Wii U saw the drive just fine without the splitter, but it would constantly error trying to save data to it. Swap out the old cable for the Y cable and everything worked great.

If anyone is looking for a Y cable to make their Wii U external hard drive work I can definitely recommend this one.

Perfect solution for Wii U

I needed hard drive for Wii U and Nintendo recommends a hard drive that is separately powered. The problem is, not only do they cost twice as much as a USB powered drive and are twice the size, but they also require a plug to power the device. While this may not be an issue for a desktop PC, but when it comes to a console, it's far from an ideal solution, particularly if you have to turn it off and on with the console.

I bought a Toshiba Canivo 500 GB USB 3.0 powered drive, and tried to connect it to the Wii U. While it worked fine when I tested it on my laptop, the Wii U was stuck on trying to recognize the drive and wouldn't format it with the packed in cable. It didn't have enough power. This cable uses two USB ports (compatible with 2.0 or 3.0) and combines them into one connection to the hard drive. It separates the power and data usage so the HDD can get the power it needs.

For some reason they don't seem to sell these cables in the stores, not even the computer store I bought the hard drive from. This is the way to go on the Wii U, and would probably be a benefit to those using it on a PC as well.

Highly recommended.

Works great for connecting an external hard drive to my Wii U for extra storage space.

I bought this so I could connect my 1 TB external hard drive to my Wii U. In order for enough power to reach the external hard drive, you have to plug this into both USB ports on the Wii U and the third end into the external hard drive itself. Once I formatted the hard drive to the Wii U through Nintendo's menu, it worked perfectly! I've had no issues since installing it.

Great for the Wii U!

For the price, I was very surprised at the quality of this cable. Due to the niche nature of the cable, I honestly expected it to kind of be a piece of junk. However, it's a very sturdy cable with strong connectors. Now that I have it plugged in, it's not really going to move much, but it really feels like it could stand up to a lot.

I use this cable for my Wii U, which unfortunately does not put out enough power from its USB ports to handle both data and power at the same time, which is why this cable is needed. This allows one port to strictly be used for data and the other for power.

The hard drive connector snaps in securely as do the USB connectors. It provides a stable data connection from the hard drive to the Wii U and allows ample power to keep the drive going.

I've played a few games (Splatoon and Super Smash Bros.) off of it and have noticed absolutely no problems. I use it with a Toshiba 1.5TB hard drive that I originally used for school. The drive itself is read properly by the Wii U and the console was easily able to format the hard drive to the correct file system for use. I've used it quite a bit since getting the cable and everything is working great.

Overall, I highly recommend this product!

Works as expected

One of my USB3.0 enclosure does not power up on Macbook Pro, it keeps clicking. I realized that it is because of lack of power and after connecting this cable to the enclosure and Macbook Pro, now it works perfectly. It does draw power from both ports.
